Terry Evans (wrestler)
Terrence Jesse Evans (October 4, 1911 – May 4, 1999) was a Canadian Freestyle wrestling, freestyle Amateur wrestling, sport wrestler who competed in the 1936 Summer Olympics. He was born in Ashton upon Mersey, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. In 1936 he competed in the Wrestling at the 1936 Summer Olympics - Men's freestyle middleweight, freestyle middleweight tournament. At the 1934 Empire Games he won the gold medal in the freestyle middleweight class. Four years later he won again the gold medal in the freestyle middleweight competition at the 1938 Empire Games. He later moved to North Bay, Ontario where he founded the North Bay Canoe Club in 1968, along with his wife Jean. He died there in 1999. Terry Evans (August 14, 1937 – January 20, 2018) was an American R&B, blues, and soul singer, guitarist and songwriter. He worked with many musicians including Ry Cooder, Bobby King, John Fogerty, Eric Clapton, Joan Armatrading, John Lee Hooker, Boz Scaggs, Maria Muldaur and Hans Theessink. Cooder stated that he always thought that Evans made a better "frontman." Between 1994 and his death, Evans released seven solo albums, including ''Blues for Thought'' (1994) ''Come to the River'' (1997) and ''Fire in the Feeling'' (2005). Evans' career was inspired by Elmore James, Little Walter, Albert King, and B.B. King. Songs he wrote were recorded by Pops Staples and Louis Jordan. Terence William Evans (born 12 April 1965) is an English former professional footballer who played as a central defender and made over 530 career appearances. He spent the majority of his career in the Football League with Brentford and Wycombe Wanderers and captained both clubs. He is a member of the Brentford Hall of Fame. After his retirement from football, Evans served as caretaker manager, assistant manager and physiotherapist at Wycombe Wanderers. After leaving football, he worked in physiotherapist roles at a number of rugby union clubs. Terence Evans (born 8 January 1976) is a Welsh former professional footballer who played as a defender. Career Evans began his career as a youth team member at Cardiff City. After completing a two-year YTS scheme, he made his professional debut in a 2–1 defeat to Bristol Rovers in January 1994 and made a handful of appearances during the season, including earning under 21 caps for Wales. He switched to the Welsh Premier League to play for Barry Town and was part of the side that found some success in European football. Michael Terry Evans (born January 19, 1982) is an American former professional baseball outfielder. Evans was traded from the St. Louis Cardinals to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in return for pitcher Jeff Weaver on July 5, . He debuted on June 17, , striking out in a pinch-hit appearance against the Los Angeles Dodgers. On June 20, he made his first career start in right field in his first home game. It was Father's Day, and his father was in attendance. He later hit his first home run in his first plate appearance at home on a 3–1 count. Terry Evans (born 1944) is an American photographer. After growing up in Kansas City, she moved to Salina, Kansas, where she was inspired to explore the themes of human relationship with the land. Evans' work explores the environmental impact of humans on the landscape in the American Midwest and is notable for aerial perspective photos of prairies. Her work has been collected by several Museums including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and the Whitney Museum of American Art. Publius Terentius Afer (; – ), better known in English as Terence (), was a playwright during the Roman Republic. He was the author of six comedies based on Greek originals by Menander or Apollodorus of Carystus. All six of Terence's plays survive complete and were originally produced between 166–160 BC. According to ancient authors, Terence was born in Carthage and was brought to Rome as a slave, where he gained an education and his freedom; around the age of 25, Terence is said to have made a voyage to the east in search of inspiration for his plays, where he died either of disease in Greece, or by shipwreck on the return voyage.
