Tennessee's 33rd Senate District
Tennessee's 33rd Senate district is one of 33 districts in the Tennessee Senate. It has been represented by Democratic Party (United States), Democrat London Lamar since 2022, following her appointment by the Shelby County Commission after Katrina Robinson was expelled by the Senate. By most measures, it is the most Democratic-leaning district in the state. Geography District 33 is based in South Memphis, Memphis, Tennessee, South and Southwest Memphis, Tennessee, Memphis, also covering small parts of Germantown, Tennessee, Germantown, Collierville, Tennessee, Collierville, and other Shelby County, Tennessee, Shelby County suburbs. Tennessee's 8th Congressional District
The 8th congressional district of Tennessee is a congressional district in West Tennessee. It has been represented by Republican David Kustoff since January 2017. The district appears rural on a map, but the bulk of its vote is cast in the suburban and exurban areas around Memphis, such as Germantown, Bartlett, and Collierville, as well as Fayette and Tipton counties. This area boasts some of the highest median incomes in the state. The rest of the district is composed mostly of small towns and farming communities. The district already had a strong social conservative tint which grew even more pronounced when eastern Memphis was added to the district; many of the state's most politically active churches are located here. 2012 United States Senate Election In Tennessee
The 2012 United States Senate election in Tennessee took place on November 6, 2012, as part of the general election including the 2012 U.S. presidential election, elections to the House of Representatives and various state and local elections. Incumbent Republican U.S. Senator Bob Corker won a second term in a landslide, carrying all but two counties in the state. Corker narrowly flipped reliably Democratic Davidson County, home to Nashville, which had not voted Republican on the presidential level since 1988. He faced Democratic nominee Mark E. Clayton as well as several third-party candidates and several independents in this election.
