Taylors Lakes Football Club
The Taylors Lakes Football Club, nicknamed the Lions or colloquially the Lakers, is an Australian rules football club located in Taylors Lakes, Victoria, north west of Melbourne. The club originated in 1989 with the intention to field junior sides, and in 1991 affiliated with the Essendon District Football League at a senior level. The club has competed in the league since 1993, and today fields teams in Division 1 and Division 1 Reserves, as well as a number of junior squads. The club's home games are held at Lionheart Reserves, which also houses the club's administrative headquarters. History The Lions reached their first grand final in 2008, with a reserves team securing the Essendon District Football League (EDFL) B Grade Reserves premiership. Essendon District Football League
The Essendon District Football League (EDFL) is a professional Australian rules football league competition based in Essendon, Victoria, consisting of teams based in the north-west suburbs of Melbourne. Founded in 1930, the men's competition consists of three leagues: Premier Division, Division 1 and Division 2, with 10 clubs in the Premier Division and Division 1 nine in Division 2. Promotion and relegation between these divisions occurs, with the lowest-placed clubs in the Premier Division and Division 1 being relegated at the end of each season. Clubs which win the Division 1 and Division 2 premierships are automatically promoted. Each men's team also fields a reserves side and an under-19 side that play a fixture mirroring that of the senior side. Since 2017, the League has also run a competition for women's Australian rules football. Taylors Lakes recorded a population of 15,174 at the . Robert Stevenson (Australian Footballer)
Robert Stevenson (born 14 June 1976) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Essendon in the Australian Football League (AFL). A key defender, Stevenson was just 17 when he debuted in the opening round of the 1994 AFL season. The Western Jets recruit made a total of six appearances that year and was also a member of the Essendon team which won the 1994 Foster's Cup. He didn't feature in the 1995 and 1996 seasons and it was not until round 18 of the 1997 season that he got another chance in the seniors. Mark Blicavs ( ; born 28 March 1991) is a professional Australian rules footballer for the Geelong Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He made his debut for the club in round one of the 2013 AFL season. Early life Blicavs' parents were both born overseas – his father was born in New Zealand to Latvian parents, and his mother was born on the isle of Jersey.
