Tatura
Tatura is a town in the Goulburn Valley region of Victoria, Australia, and is situated within the City of Greater Shepparton local government area, north of the state capital (Melbourne) and west of the regional centre of Shepparton, Victoria, Shepparton. At the 2021 census, Tatura had a population of 4,955. During World War II, several internment camps were set up around Tatura by the Australian government. Four of these were for "enemy alien" civilians, and three were for prisoners of war. Between 1940 and 1947, there were 10,000 to 13,000 people in the internment camps at different times. With a large corporate and manufacturing presence within the town, Tatura is a major employer within the Goulburn Valley. Karl Duldig
Karl (Karol) Duldig (29 December 1902 – 11 August 1986) was a Jewish sculptor. Born in Poland, he and his family fled Vienna in 1938 following the annexation of Austria by Nazi Germany, eventually settling in Australia. As a sculptor, he was instrumental in introducing the Modernist style to an Australian audience, won the 1956 Victorian Sculptor of the Year Award, and had an annual lecture established in his name by the National Gallery of Victoria. Slawa Duldig née Horowitz (28 November 1901– 16 August 1975) was an inventor, artist, interior designer, and teacher. In 1929, as Slawa Horowitz, she patented a design for an improved compact folding umbrella. Duldig was the wife of the modernist sculptor Karl (Karol) Duldig and the mother of Eva de Jong-Duldig, a champion Australian tennis player. Her art works and those of her husband are displayed at the Duldig Studio, an artists' house museum in Melbourne, Australia founded by their daughter. Rushworth is a town in Victoria, Australia. It is located north of Melbourne and, at the 2021 Census, had a population of 1,411. History Rushworth was established during the Victorian gold rush in 1853. It was named by poet and later local Goldfields Commissioner Richard Henry Horne in 1854. Its post office opened on 16 September 1857. The goldfields became no longer viable due to the underground water table and were closed during the gold rush. After World War 2, a migration camp was set up approximately 8km outside of town in 1947.
