Tamil Films
Tamil cinema is the segment of Indian cinema dedicated to the production of motion pictures in the Tamil language, the main spoken language in the state of Tamil Nadu. It is nicknamed Kollywood, a portmanteau of the names Kodambakkam, a Chennai neighbourhood with a high concentration of film studios, and Hollywood. The first Tamil silent film, '' Keechaka Vadham'', was directed by R. Nataraja Mudaliar in 1918. The first Tamil talking feature film, '' Kalidas'', a multilingual directed by H. M. Reddy was released on 31 October 1931, less than seven months after India's first talking motion picture ''Alam Ara''. Tamil cinema has been noted for its advanced narratives and diverse films, with several productions in the 1990s and early 2000s cutting across ethnic and linguistic barriers. It was established in the 1980s by R. B. Choudary. History R. B. Choudary hails from a Rajasthani family. He was into steel, exports and jewels business before entering film production. He started his career as a producer with Malayalam film industry first and produced a few films under "Super" banner. Studio Green is an Indian film production and distribution company based in Chennai. The company was founded in 2006 by K. E. Gnanavel Raja, relative of actor Sivakumar and many of their films feature his sons Suriya and Karthi. They have produced several Tamil films and also distributed films across India. History The company first produced and distributed the film '' Sillunu Oru Kaadhal'' starring Suriya, in 2006. Next they distributed '' Paruthiveeran'', introducing Karthik Sivakumar, younger brother of Suriya. It ran for more than a year in screens in Tamil Nadu.
