Cichorieae
The Cichorieae (also called Lactuceae) are a tribe in the plant family Asteraceae that includes 93 genera, more than 1,600 sexually reproductive species and more than 7,000 apomictic species. They are found primarily in temperate regions of the Eastern Hemisphere. Cichorieae all have milky latex and flowerheads that only contain one type of floret. The genera ''Gundelia'' and ''Warionia'' only have disk florets, while all other genera only have ligulate florets. The genera that contain most species are ''Taraxacum'' (Crepidinae subtribe) with about 1,600 apomictic species, ''Hieracium'' with about 770 sexually reproducing and 5,200 apomictic species, and ''Pilosella'' with 110 sexually reproducing and 700 apomictic species (both Hieraciinae). The family Asteraceae, alternatively Compositae, consists of over 32,000 known species of flowering plants in over 1,900 genera within the order Asterales. Armen Leonovich Takhtajan or Takhtajian ( hy, Արմեն Լևոնի Թախտաջյան; russian: Армен Леонович Тахтаджян; surname also transliterated Takhtadjan, Takhtadzhi︠a︡n or Takhtadzhian, pronounced takh-tuh-JAHN; 10 June 1910 – 13 November 2009), was a Soviet- Armenian botanist, one of the most important figures in 20th century plant evolution and systematics and biogeography. His other interests included morphology of flowering plants, paleobotany, and the flora of the Caucasus. He was one of the most influential taxonomists of the latter twentieth century. ''Takhtajaniantha tau-saghyz'' is a species of plant in the family Asteraceae. It is endemic to Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and the Karatau Mountains of Kazakhstan in Central Asia. Uses ''Takhtajaniantha tau-saghyz'' is of interest as a source of latex suitable for making natural rubber,Buranov, Anvar U., and Burkhon J. Elmuradov.
