''Take a Pair of Private Eyes'' is a British comedy crime television series which originally aired on BBC 2 in six episodes from 10 April to 15 May 1966. It was written by Peter O'Donnell, best known as the creator of Modesty Blaise.Reilly p.1172 The title is a reference to the Gilbert and Sullivan song '' Take a Pair of Sparkling Eyes''. In the style of ''The Thin Man'' it focuses on Ambrose and Dominique Fraynes a husband and wife who run a private detective agency assisted by his father Hector. Peter O'Donnell
Peter O'Donnell (11 April 1920 – 3 May 2010) was an English writer of mysteries and of comic strips, best known as the creator of '' Modesty Blaise'', an action heroine/undercover trouble-shooter. He was also an award-winning gothic historical romance novelist who wrote under the female pseudonym Madeleine Brent, in 1978, his novel ''Merlin's Keep'' won the Romantic Novel of the Year Award by the Romantic Novelists' Association. Biography Born on 11 April 1920 in Lewisham, London, O'Donnell was the son of Bernard O'Donnell, a journalist on the '' Empire News'', and was educated at Catford Central School. He began to write professionally at the age of 16. Francisca "Francesca" Tu (born 1943) is a Chinese-born German film and television actress. Career Francisca Tu took ballet lessons at the Hanover Opera House and trained at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media. John Quarmby
John Quarmby (18 June 1929 – 5 April 2019) was an English actor. Biography Quarmby was born in Liverpool and after two years' national service in the RAF joined RADA in 1949. Repertory work dominated the first twenty years of his career, although he began appearing in television in 1956. John Edward Cater (17 January 1932 – 21 March 2009) was an English actor. Early life John Edward Cater was born 17 January 1932 in Hendon, north London. His father, like his grandfather, was a florist. His mother was a violinist who performed with the dance trio The Piroinos. He was diagnosed with hereditary haemochromatosis, which led his body to absorb too much dietary iron, but it caused him few problems for most of his life. Cater was just four years old when he enrolled in dance school. He was attending Hendon Preparatory School when, in 1939, he and his entire class were evacuated from London to Devon.
