Taiwan Institute Of Economic Research
Taiwan Institute of Economic Research (TIER, ) is an incorporated non-profit research institute in Zhongshan District, Taipei, Taiwan. History Established on 1 September 1976, it was the first independent academic research institute in Taiwan. Similar to the Chung-Hua Institution for Economic Research, its mission is to provide research into the domestic and foreign economies and industries and to provide the results to the government and industry for consideration, encouraging the development of Taiwan's economy. It is a major provider of economic information about Taiwan, greater China, and Asia, and also acts as one of two major economic policy think tanks in Taiwan. Funding is provided through an endowment, donations, as well as income generated from research publications. Koo Chen-fu
Koo Chen-fu (, 6 January 1917 – 3 January 2005), also known as C.F. Koo, was a Taiwanese businessman, diplomat, and film producer. He led the Koos Group of companies from 1940 until his death. As a chairman of the Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF), Koo arranged the first direct talks between Taiwan and the People’s Republic of China since 1949 and served as Taiwan's negotiator in both the 1993 and 1998 Wang-Koo summit. The Chung-Hua Institution for Economic Research (CIER; ) is a Taiwan-based international policy think tank for economic and industry-related research. The Taipei Metro Zhongshan Elementary School station is a station on the Xinzhuang Line located in Zhongshan, Taipei, Taiwan. The station opened for service on 3 November 2010. Taipei Metro (also known as Taipei Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) and branded as Metro Taipei) is a rapid transit system operated by the Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation serving the capital Taipei and New Taipei City in Taiwan.
