The women's 49 kg competition in taekwondo at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens took place on August 26 at the Faliro Coastal Zone Olympic Complex. Chen Shih-hsin collected one of Chinese Taipei's first ever Olympic gold medals at these Games in the event, after handily defeating Cuba's Yanelis Labrada in the final with a score of 5–4. The Faliro Coastal Zone Olympic Sports Complex is a complex in the coastal zone of Piraeus, Greece. Sangina Baidya () (born 29 December 1974, in Kathmandu) is a retired Nepalese taekwondo practitioner, who competed in the women's flyweight category. Lineo Mochesane (born 29 July 1984) is a female Lesotho taekwondo athlete. She won her first international gold medal in the women's finweight division (-47 kg) at the 2003 All-African championships. Brigitte Yagüe Enrique (born 15 March 1981 in Palma de Mallorca, Balearic Islands, Spain) is a taekwondo practitioner from Spain.
