TMC (TV Channel)
TMC (; originally short for Télé Monte-Carlo) is a Franco– Monégasque entertainment television channel, owned by French media holding company Groupe TF1. History The genesis In 1939, Charles Michelson obtained concession to operate Radio Tangier. The project was, taken over by French authorities after World War II to create Radio Impériale. On February 6, 1948, Michelson obtained a compensational five-year management contract for shortwave radio at Radio Monte-Carlo. The management is majority owned by Sofirad and through it, by the French State. The failure of technical experiments with this mode of retransmission led François Mitterrand, then Minister of Information, to make a concession to Michelson. On October 22, 1949, he benefited from a “sub-concession option” for television in the Principality of Monaco, from the company owning Radio Monte-Carlo. In high-definition television (HDTV) and video display technology, 1080i is a video display format with 1080 lines of vertical resolution and Interlaced video, interlaced scanning method. This format was once a standard in HDTV. It was particularly used for broadcast television because it can deliver high-resolution images without needing excessive bandwidth. This format is used in the SMPTE 292M standard. Definition The number "1080" in 1080i refers to the number of horizontal lines that make up the vertical resolution of the display. Shortwave radio is radio transmission using radio frequencies in the shortwave bands (SW). There is no official definition of the band range, but it always includes all of the High frequency, high frequency band (HF), which extends from 3 to 30 MHz (approximately 100 to 10 metres in wavelength). It lies between the Medium frequency, medium frequency band (MF) and the bottom of the Very high frequency, VHF band. Radio waves in the shortwave band can be reflected or refracted from a layer of electrically charged atoms in the atmosphere called the ionosphere. Mont Agel
Mont Agel is a mountain in the Maritime Alps on the border between France and Monaco. The summit of this mount, at above sea level, is on the French side, but the highpoint of Monaco, lying on a pathway named Chemin des Révoires, is on its slopes, at an altitude of 161 metres (528 feet). History The top of Mont Agel is occupied by Nice Air Base, itself built on the former Ouvrage Mont Agel of the Alpine Line fortifications. On 18 June 2011, a light aircraft crashed onto Mont Agel, killing two British passengers. The plane was on a private flight, and was en route from Italy to Troyes at the time of the crash. Conditions were foggy. Mont Agel is the site of the Monte Carlo Golf Club, formerly home of the Monte Carlo Open. The club celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2011. Telecine ( or ), or TK, is the process of transferring film into video and is performed in a color suite. The term is also used to refer to the equipment used in this post-production process. Telecine enables a motion picture, captured originally on film stock, to be viewed with standard video equipment, such as television sets, video cassette recorders (VCR), DVD-Video, DVD, Blu-ray or computers. Initially, this allowed television broadcasters to produce programs using film, usually 16 mm film, 16-mm stock, but transmit them in the same format, and quality, as other forms of television production. Telesaar
Telesaar is the designation of the first German private television station. It was brought in 1954 by the European Broadcast and Television AG, which also operates the transmitter of Europe 1. It broadcast on VHF channel 7 in the French standard until its annexation by West Germany. This was permitted, because until the end of 1956 the Saarland was not part of the Federal Republic of Germany and therefore not subject to German broadcast laws. Although Telesaar used the French television standard, which German televisions could not receive, the German authorities shut down the Telesaar, and the transmitter had to be adjusted in the middle of 1958. A peatland is a type of wetland whose soils consist of organic matter from decaying plants, forming layers of peat. Henri Georges de France (7 September 1911 Paris – 29 April 1986 Paris) was a pioneering French television inventor. His inventions include the 819 line French standard and the SECAM color system. On December 6, 1931, De France founded the Compagnie Générale de Télévision in Le Havre, making television sets with a vertical definition of 60 lines. In February 1932, De France made several transmissions over a distance of 7 km from the "Radio-Normandie" station in Fécamp. These signals were received by a few people located over 100 km away.
