Tears
Tears are a clear liquid secreted by the lacrimal glands (tear gland) found in the eyes of all land mammals. Tears are made up of water, electrolytes, proteins, lipids, and mucins that form layers on the surface of eyes. The different types of tears—basal, reflex, and emotional—vary significantly in composition. The functions of tears include lubricating the eyes (basal tears), removing irritants (reflex tears), and also aiding the immune system. Tears also occur as a part of the body's natural pain response. Emotional secretion of tears may serve a biological function by excreting stress-inducing hormones built up through times of emotional distress. Tears have symbolic significance among humans. Physiology Chemical composition Tears are made up of three layers: lipid, aqueous, and mucous. Tears are composed of water, salts, antibodies, and lysozymes (antibacterial enzymes); though composition varies among different tear types. The composition of tears caused by an ...

Tearing
Tearing is the act of breaking apart a material by force, without the aid of a cutting tool. A tear in a piece of paper, fabric, or some other similar object may be the result of the intentional effort with one's bare hands, or be accidental. Unlike a cut, which is generally on a straight or patterned line controlled by a tool such as scissors, a tear is generally uneven and, for the most part, unplanned. An exception is a tear along a perforated line, as found on a roll of toilet paper or paper towels, which has been previously partially cut, so the effort of tearing will probably produce a straight line. Materials vary in their susceptibility to tearing. Some materials may be quite resistant to tearing when they are in their full form, but when a small cut or tear is made, the material becomes compromised, and the effort needed to continue tearing along that line becomes less. Materials can be characterized by standard test method A test method is a method for a test i ...

The Tears
The Tears were an English rock group formed in 2004 by ex- Suede bandmates Brett Anderson and Bernard Butler, along with the former Delicatessen and Lodger members Will Foster (keyboardist), bassist Nathan Fisher, and Bernard Butler session drummer Makoto Sakamoto. The duo Anderson and Butler were a much anticipated reunion and music critics praised their first concerts and only album, ''Here Come the Tears''. However, the project was short-lived as they disbanded in 2006, which allowed Anderson to focus on his solo career and the latter Suede's reformation in 2010, Butler become as full-time producer, and Foster worked as additional musician for The Fratellis since 2008. History In 1994, when Bernard Butler walked out of Suede, they were the biggest new band in Britain. He was pilloried in the music press and characterised as "demanding, difficult and egotistical" by Brett Anderson. "When he left the band we pretty much hated each other as much as two people can hate each o ...

Tears (Rush Song)
"Tears" is a song by the Canadian rock band Rush. It appears on their 1976 album '' 2112''. It is the first Rush song to feature the Mellotron, which Hugh Syme plays. Background Geddy Lee said in an interview about the song: "'Tears' is a romantic ballad to give the album even more variety and depth. Mellotrons are unique-sounding; they sound sorta electric, but also kinda stringy, they have this real resin-y sound to them, which is very cool and unique to that period." Reception Music Emissions said that it was the most underrated song on the album and that it was a departure for the band as a very heart-felt song of loss and regret. Bill Banasiewicz said in the book ''Rush Visions'' that "It's better produced than 'Lessons', which immediately precedes it. It is very much in the mode of 'Rivendell' and marks one of the few times that Neil plays in a straight four-time signature." Robert Telleria, in the book ''Merely Players'', said about the song "once again Geddy proves he's ...

Tear (scratch)
Turntablism is the art of manipulating sounds and creating new music, sound effects, mixes and other creative sounds and beats, typically by using two or more turntables and a cross fader-equipped DJ mixer. The mixer is plugged into a PA system (for live events) and/or broadcasting equipment (if the DJ is performing on radio, TV or Internet radio) so that a wider audience can hear the turntablist's music. Turntablists atypically manipulate records on a turntable by moving the record with their hand to cue the stylus to exact points on a record, and by touching or moving the platter or record to stop, slow down, speed up or, spin the record backwards, or moving the turntable platter back and forth (the popular rhythmic "scratching" effect which is a key part of hip hop music), all while using a DJ mixer's crossfader control and the mixer's gain and equalization controls to adjust the sound and level of each turntable. Turntablists typically use two or more turntables and headphon ...

Tears (X Japan Song)
"Tears" is the ninth single by the Japanese heavy metal band X Japan, released on November 10, 1993. Overview The song was debuted/first performed on December 31, 1992, on a broadcast of NHK's Kouhaku Uta Gassen and featured all singers on this episode. Hide, their guitarist, had the idea to distribute the lyrics starting on the first stanza with Akiko Wada's voice. It is the band's first single to be released under the name X Japan and the first to feature Heath on bass. The ballad was written and composed solely by Yoshiki about the death of his father, but he co-credited it to the alias because he was concerned how fans would react to a softer song from the band. It would later appear on the album '' Dahlia'' and was also used as the theme song for the Japanese TV drama . The B-side is the lyric-less classical version of the song, which was previously on Yoshiki's solo album ''Eternal Melody''. It was produced, arranged and conducted by famed music producer George M ...
