Switzerland was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 1989 with the song "", written by Marie Louise Werth, and performed by Furbaz. The Swiss participating broadcaster, the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation (SRG SSR), selected its entry through a national final. In addition, (TSR), on behalf of the SRG SSR, was the host broadcaster and staged the event at the in Lausanne, after their win at the with the song "" by Céline Dion. This was the first-ever entry performed in Romansh in the Eurovision Song Contest. Zweikanalton ("two-channel sound"), or A2 Stereo, is an analog television sound transmission system used in Germany, Austria, Australia, Switzerland, Netherlands, Croatia, Serbia and some other countries that use or used CCIR systems. RSI LA 1 (''la uno'', formerly TSI 1) is one of two television channels produced by Radiotelevisione Svizzera di lingua Italiana for the Italian-speaking community of Switzerland. LA 1, which can be received in all parts of the country, is a generalist channel with a schedule encompassing news, entertainment, drama, cinema films, documentaries, and sport.
