The Swiss Olympic Association is the National Olympic Committee and the umbrella organisation for organised Swiss sport under private law. It has 104 members (81 national sports federations and 23 partner organisations), to which some two million people belong, practising sports in about 19,000 clubs. Nina Betschart
Nina Brunner (; born 14 October 1995) is a Swiss professional beach volleyball player who plays as a right side defender with her partner Tanja Hüberli. She is a two-time European Champion, winning the title in 2021 and 2023, the silver medallist at the 2018 and 2022 European Championships, and the bronze medalist at the 2024 Summer Olympics. With her former partner Nicole Eiholzer, she won the gold medal at the first ever European Games in 2015. Alongside Hüberli, Betschart has won combined total of 3 gold, 4 silver and 6 bronze medals on FIVB World Tour and its successor Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour. The women's BMX racing competition at the 2024 Summer Olympics took place on 1 and 2 August 2024 at the Vélodrome National, Vélodrome National de Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines. Zoé Claessens
Zoe Claessens (born 28 April 2001) is a Swiss BMX racing cyclist. Claessens started racing BMX at age seven. Her father founded the Echichens BMX Club in Switzerland, and two of her brothers were also BMX racers. In 2018 she received the Female Young Talent award from the Swiss Sports Aid Foundation. She was selected in the Swiss team for the Cycling at the 2020 Summer Olympics – Women's BMX racing. Prior to that event in June 2021 she became the European Champion in Heusden-Zolder. She is coached by former World Champion and British Olympian Liam Phillips. In 2022 she won silver at the UCI BMX World Championships. In October 2022 she finished runner-up at the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup behind Laura Smulders and ahead of Olympic champion Beth Shriever. The men's 200 metre backstroke event at the 2024 Summer Olympics was held from 31 July to 1 August 2024 at Paris La Défense Arena, which was converted to an Olympic-size swimming pool for the swimming events. The US' Ryan Murphy and Hungary's Hubert Kós were the considered the most likely to win prior to the event. Other contenders were Great Britain's Luke Greenbank, Hugo González of Spain and Roman Mityukov of Switzerland. Greenbank was eliminated in the heats (preliminary rounds) after getting disqualified for swimming more than 15 metres underwater, while Murphy did not qualify for the final.
