''Sweet Freedom'' (also known as ''Sweet Freedom – The Best of Michael McDonald'' in some countries) is a compilation album by American singer and songwriter Michael McDonald, released in 1986 on the Warner Bros. label. Michael H. McDonald (born February 12, 1952) is an American singer, songwriter and keyboardist. Known for his distinctive, soulful voice, he was a backing vocalist for Steely Dan from 1975 to 1980 and the lead vocalist of the Doobie Brothers across various stints (1975–1982, 1987, 2019–present). McDonald wrote and sang several hit singles with the Doobie Brothers, including " What a Fool Believes", " Minute by Minute", " Takin' It to the Streets", " Real Love" and " It Keeps You Runnin'". "Yah Mo B There" is a contemporary R&B song, recorded as a duet by American singers James Ingram and Michael McDonald. It was written by Ingram, McDonald, Rod Temperton and producer Quincy Jones. The song originally appeared on Ingram's 1983 album, '' It's Your Night'', via Jones's Qwest Records label. It was released as a single in late 1983, peaking in 1984 at No. 19 on the U.S. Hot 100 chart and No. 44 on the UK Singles Chart. History The Sanford-Townsend Band featured keyboardists Ed Sanford (from Montgomery, Alabama) and Johnny Townsend (from Tuscaloosa, Alabama), who previously worked together in a Tuscaloosa-based band called The Heart (not to be confused with the band Heart fronted by Ann and Nancy Wilson from Seattle/Vancouver).
