Swedish Nuclear Fuel And Waste Management Company
The Swedish Nuclear Fuel and Waste Management Company (Svensk Kärnbränslehantering Aktiebolag, abbreviated SKB) is a company founded by the Swedish nuclear power industry. Among its primary operations are the management and disposal of nuclear waste and expended nuclear fuel. Its main offices are in Stockholm, but the company has sites in Forsmark and Oskarshamn (Äspölaboratoriet and Kapsellaboratoriet). Swedish Waste Management (Swedish: Avfall Sverige) is a public association for waste management and recycling in Sweden. Established in 1947, it is headquartered in Malmö with a main branch in Stockholm. Its main vision is zero waste. Tony Clark is its managing director since 2019. It is a member of the Municipal Waste Europe, an umbrella organisation of public waste management bodies in European countries that was established in 2008. Since 2022, it partnered with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for "global climate mitigation and adaptation efforts and the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development." Thomas Östros (born 26 January 1965) is a Swedish economist and Social Democratic politician who has been serving as vice president of the European Investment Bank (EIB) since 2020. OKG AB (''Oskarshamns Kraftgrupp AB'') is a Swedish corporation who owns and operates the Oskarshamn Nuclear Power Plant. It is majority owned by Sydkraft. The three reactors, Oskarshamn 1–3, manufactured by ASEA Atom, were put into operation in 1972, 1974, and 1985, respectively. At the reactor site, some 30 km north of Oskarshamn, OKG used to operate CLAB – Sweden's central interim storage facility for radioactive waste.
