Jagendra Swarup
Jagendra Swarup (2 July 1949 – 30 July 2014) was an Indian politician, educationist and advocate from Uttar Pradesh, India. He served as a Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) from Kanpur Graduates constituency for 34 years. The constituency was held by the family for 99 years and his father, Virendra Swarup, served it for nearly 24 years. He died on 30 July 2014 in Delhi, at the age of 65, while undergoing treatment for a liver ailment. Early life and education Swarup was born in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, to Dhara Rani Swarup and Virendra Swarup, an educationist and former chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council, who was elected four times as MLC from the Kanpur division graduates constituency. Sir Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar (21 February 1894 – 1 January 1955) was an Indian colloid chemist, academic and scientific administrator. The first director-general of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Bhatnagar is revered as the ''Father of Research Laboratories'' in India. He was also the first Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC). Swarup Kishan
Swaroop Kishen Reu (13 July 1930 – 21 November 1992) was an Indian Test cricket umpire. His name is sometimes spelled "Swarup Kishan". He was born in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. He played cricket as a wicketkeeper batsman at Delhi University. He became a lawyer, working in the Auditor-General's Office. He umpired in first-class cricket from 1969 to 1984, including officiating in the final of the Duleep Trophy in 1981/2 and of the Ranji Trophy in 1982/3. He also umpired in List A cricket, including the final of the Deodhar Trophy in 1980/1. At the international level, he stood in 17 Test matches between 1978 and 1984, equalling the Indian record of B. Satyaji Rao in 1979, but subsequently surpassed by VK Ramaswamy (26 matches between 1985 and 1999) and Srinivasaraghavan Venkataraghavan (73 matches between 1993 and 2004). Gopal Swarup Pathak
Gopal Swarup Pathak (26 February 1896 – 4 October 1982) was the vice president of India from August 1969 to August 1974. He was the first Indian vice president not to succeed his superior as President. Life Born on 26 February 1896 at Bareilly in the North-Western Provinces, he studied law at Allahabad University . Raghunandan Swarup Pathak
Raghunandan Swarup Pathak (25 November 1924 – 17 November 2007) was the 18th Chief Justice of India. He was the son of Gopal Swarup Pathak, a former Vice President of India. He was one of the four judges from India to have been on the International Court of Justice in The Hague (the others being Benegal Narsing Rau who served at ICJ during 1952 to 1953 Nagendra Singh who served as its President from 1985 to 1988 and former Supreme Court justice Dalveer Bhandari, who currently sits upon the World Court).
