Suzhou New District
The Suzhou New District () is one of the specially designated regions for technological and industrial development in China. The district covers an area of and is located west of Suzhou, in the Jiangsu province. The district is managed by the New High-Tech Industrial Company Ltd. (), which, in turn, is owned by the Suzhou government. History Suzhou New District was established by the Central People's Government on November 18, 1992. It was one of the first industry parks opened to attract foreign investors from APEC countries. It served as an export base for technology-related services and products in China. The Suzhou Industrial Park () is a development region in Suzhou, Jiangsu, China. The industrial park was established in February 1994, as part of the Chinese economic reform, reform and opening up campaign in the 1990s, and is unique in its joint governance by Chinese and Singapore, Singaporean officials. Japanese School Of Suzhou
The Japanese School of Suzhou (JSS) is a Japanese international school in the Suzhou New District of Suzhou, China. On February 28, 2005, the Ministry of Education of China approved the establishment of the school. The current campus on Huahai Road (淮海路) in the Suzhou New District was scheduled to open in September 2012. The original campus, which opened in 2005, had a cost of 20 million yuan. On the afternoon of June 24, 2024, an unemployed Chinese man attacked a Japanese mother and her preschool boy while they were waiting for their school bus in Suzhou. The bus attendant Hu Youping and others tried to stop the attacker. Hu was wounded during the confrontation and died two days later. The knife wielder has been detained by the authorities.
