''Survivors Guide to Prison'' is a 2018 documentary film directed by Matthew Cooke (filmmaker), Matthew Cooke exploring the Incarceration in the United States, United States prison system, largely through the lens of two wrongly convicted men, Reggie Cole and Bruce Lisker. The film, narrated by Cooke and Susan Sarandon, focuses on problems one might face against the prison system via segments covering topics such as plea bargains, solitary confinement, and the difficulties of life after prison. Matthew Cooke (born February 28, 1973, in Washington, D.C.) is the writer-director of ''How to Make Money Selling Drugs'', a documentary film which criticizes the war on drugs in the United States, and '' Survivors Guide to Prison'', about the prison system. Cooke also often serves as his own narrator, editor, cinematographer and visual effects artist. Cooke was the producer and editor of Amy Berg's Oscar–nominated documentary '' Deliver Us from Evil'', his first feature film, and writer, director, editor and actor on Fuel TV's '' Stupidface''. Bruce Lisker
Bruce Lisker is a man who at age 17 was wrongly arrested, tried, and convicted for the March 10, 1983 murder of his adoptive mother Dorka, 66, in the family's Sherman Oaks residence. Lisker served 26 years, 5 months, and 3 days of a 16-years-to-life sentence in California prisons including the California Youth Authority (now the California Division of Juvenile Justice; 1986–87), San Quentin State Prison (1987-89), and Mule Creek State Prison (1989-2009). His conviction was overturned in a 2009 ruling by United States district court judge Virginia A. Phillips, in which she found that his 1985 murder conviction was obtained through the use of false evidence and ineffective assistance of counsel. Lisker was freed on August 13, 2009. Wayne Kramer (born Wayne Kambes; April 30, 1948) is an American guitarist, singer, songwriter, producer and film and television composer. Kramer came to prominence as a teenager in 1967 as a co-founder of the Detroit rock group MC5, a group known for their powerful live performances and radical left-wing political stand.
