Super (2011 Film)
''Super'' is a 2010 American dark comedy superhero film written and directed by James Gunn. It stars Rainn Wilson, Elliot Page, Liv Tyler, Kevin Bacon, and Nathan Fillion. The film follows an ordinary man who becomes a masked superhero called the Crimson Bolt, uses savage violence to compensate for his lack of superhuman abilities, and sets out to rescue his wife from a drug dealer. The film premiered at the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival and was released in theaters in the United States on April 1, 2011, and on video on demand on April 13, 2011. The film was released unrated in U.S. theaters, and later received an R rating for its DVD/Blu-ray release. It received mixed reviews from critics and grossed $593,933 on a budget of $2.5 million. James Gunn
James Francis Gunn Jr. (born August 5, 1966) is an American filmmaker. He began his career as a screenwriter in the mid-1990s, starting at Troma Entertainment with ''Tromeo and Juliet'' (1996). He then began working as a director, starting with the horror-comedy film '' Slither'' (2006), and moving to the superhero genre with ''Super'' (2010), '' Guardians of the Galaxy'' (2014), '' Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2'' (2017), '' The Suicide Squad'' (2021), and '' Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3'' (2023). Steve Gainer, ASC ASK (born October 25, 1962) is an Emmy Award winning American cinematographer, director, and producer. He is a member and museum curator of the American Society of Cinematographers, a member of the Directors Guild of America, and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
