SuperFerry Travel & Leisure, or SuperFerry, (formerly known as Aboitiz SuperFerry and later, WG&A SuperFerry) was the passenger travel and leisure brand of the Aboitiz Transport System Corporation (ATSC) and later, Negros Navigation Co. (NENACO), and was one of the largest ferry operator in the Philippines. It is now part of 2GO Travel. Through Aboitiz-Jebsen, SuperFerry had the honor of being the first shipping company in the Philippines to receive the International Ship Management Code, SuperFerry’s entire fleet was also compliant with the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code. Negros Navigation Co., Inc. (NENACO) was one of the oldest domestic shipping companies in the Philippines. It was also one of the largest companies in the shipping business in the Philippines. Its main hub was in Pier 2, Manila North Harbor. In 2012, Its passenger and freight operations merged with Aboitiz Transport System (ATS) brands to form 2GO Travel. 2GO Group Inc., also known simply as 2GO is a Philippines-based transportation and logistics company operating a fleet of inter-island passenger ferries and cargo ships. The top two principal shareholders of the 2GO Group are SM Investments Corp, and Trident Investments. Company history The first precursor company to 2GO Group Inc. began on May 26, 1949 under the corporate name William Lines, Inc. Hawaii Superferry
Hawaii Superferry was a Hawaii-based transportation company that provided passenger and vehicle transportation between Honolulu Harbor on the island of Oahu and Kahului Harbor on Maui. Legal issues over environmental impact statements and protests from residents of Maui and Kauai temporarily delayed the implementation of service, but service between Oahu and Maui began in December 2007. The company had hoped to return service to Nawiliwili Harbor on Kauai and additionally planned to eventually provide service to Kawaihae Harbor on the Big Island. Ferry operations were suspended in March 2009 after the Hawaii Supreme Court ruled that a state law allowing the Superferry to operate without a second complete environmental impact statement was unconstitutional. Cebu Ferries was a brand and part of Aboitiz Transport System Corporation (ATSC) and later, Negros Navigation Co. (NENACO), and served the VisMin operations of ATSC. Its hubs were at Pier 4 in Cebu City, Philippines. In 2012, Cebu Ferries and its sister companies; SuperFerry and SuperCat merged with Negros Navigation and rebranded as 2GO Travel.
