Sunbeam Products
Sunbeam Products is an American company founded in 1897 that has produced electric home appliances under the Sunbeam name since 1910. Its products have included the Mixmaster mixer, the Sunbeam CG waffle iron, Coffeemaster (1938–1964) and the fully automatic T20 toaster. The company has endured a long history of struggles, including in 2001, when it filed for bankruptcy and was also found to have committed massive accounting fraud, for which it was subject to SEC investigation. In 2002, Sunbeam emerged from bankruptcy as American Household, Inc. (AHI). Sunbeam was owned by Jarden Consumer Solutions after Jarden's acquisition in 2004, which was itself later purchased by Newell Rubbermaid (now Newell Brands). History Early history In 1897 John K. EQT Plaza, formerly known as the CNG Tower and later the Dominion Tower, is a major and distinctive skyscraper in Downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Robert Davol Budlong
Robert Davol Budlong (1902–1955) was an American industrial designer from Denver, Colorado. He studied art at Cummings School of Art in Des Moines, Iowa and graduated from Grinnell College, Iowa in 1921. This was followed by further study at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts. He started his design career in 1933, with the Hammond Clock Company and, in 1934–1935, became a design consultant with Zenith Radio. This involvement with Zenith was to last until his death. In 1938-39, Budlong designed a modern electrified piano for a collaboration between Story and Clark pianos and electronics giant RCA. The resulting "Storytone piano" was the first commercial electric piano, using a magnetic pickup and amplifier/speaker to give the piano volume (much like an electric guitar uses electronics rather than acoustic projection.)
