Sun TV is an Indian Tamil-language general entertainment pay television channel owned by Sun TV Network. It was launched on 14 April 1993. It is the flagship channel of the Chennai-based media conglomerate Sun Group's Sun TV Network. It was founded and is owned by Kalanithi Maran. It started airing on open network (Antenna) on 14 July 2002 at the time of "Majunu" Tamil movie premiering. Then it was removed from this open network on 2005. It was also removed from free on 9 November 2007. Sun TV launched its HD version on 11 December 2011. Since its inception, the channel consistently remains the top rated Tamil channel and one of the top rated Indian television channel. Kalanithi Maran (born 24 July 1964) is an Indian billionaire media proprietor. He is the chairman and founder of Sun Group, one of India's largest media conglomerates. He owns multiple television channels, newspapers, weeklies, FM radio stations, DTH services, a movie production house ( Sun Pictures) and 2 cricket teams ( Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League and Sunrisers Eastern Cape in South Africa T20 League). Sun Kudumbam Viruthugal is an awards ceremony held to honour the cast and crew of the television serials which air on Sun TV, presented by Sun Network. The first awards ceremony happened in 2010 and it is a biennial award ceremony. Nominations The top four performances in all serials, including the serials that have ended the past year, in different categories are chosen by jurors. During February and March, the nominees are interviewed on Sun TV and viewers are asked to cast their votes by text messaging their favourite actor in each category. The actor receiving the highest votes are proclaimed winner of the award in that category. 2013 Little India Riot
The 2013 Little India riot took place on 8 December 2013 after a fatal accident occurred at Singapore Standard Time, SST 21:23 at the junction of Race Course Road and Hampshire Road in Little India, Singapore, causing angry mobs of migrant labourers from South Asia to attack the bus involved and emergency vehicles that had by then arrived at the location. About 300 migrant labourers were involved in the riot which lasted for around two hours. This was the second riot in post-independence Singapore, and the first in 44 years since the 1969 race riots of Singapore, 1969 race riots. The Asian Television Network (ATN) was the first independent television channel in India. It was broadcast via satellite and was owned by businessman Siddhartha Srivastava. Puthandu (), also known as Tamil New Year (), is the first day of year on the Tamil calendar that is traditionally celebrated as a festival by Tamils. The University of Scranton is a private Jesuit university in Scranton, Pennsylvania. It was founded in 1888 by William O'Hara, the first Bishop of Scranton, as St. Thomas College.
