Subramaniam Academy Of Performing Arts
The Subramaniam Academy of Performing Arts (SaPa) was founded in 2007, by violinist Dr. L. Subramaniam and Bollywood playback singer Kavita Krishnamurti Subramaniam. It is run by singer/songwriter Bindu Subramaniam and violinist Ambi Subramaniam. SaPa takes in musically inclined children as young as three years old and helps them build a career in music. The institute uses Baby Rooms, baby Dikshitar and Tyagaraja characters in the textbooks, and stuffed toy musical instruments to make music fun for children. The focus is Indian classical music, but students are also exposed to music from over 20 countries. Located in Bangalore, SaPa’s main centre is in Sanjaynagar with branches in Rajajinagar, Whitefield, and Basavangudi. Kavita Krishnamurthy
Sharada Krishnamurthy, popularly known as Kavita Krishnamurthy or Kavita Subramaniam, is an Indian playback and classical singer. She has recorded 50,000 songs in 45 various Indian languages including Hindi, Bengali, Kannada, Rajasthani, Bhojpuri, Telugu, Odia, Marathi, English, Urdu, Tamil, Malayalam, Gujarati, Nepali, Assamese, Konkani, Punjabi and other languages. She is the recipient of four Filmfare Best Female Playback Singer Awards (winning consecutively during 1995–1997), and the Padmashri which she received in 2005. Bindu Subramaniam
Bindu Subramaniam is an American singer/songwriter, entrepreneur, music educator, and Co-Founder and CEO of SaPa - Subramaniam Academy of Performing Arts. Bindu has been described as a "third generation prodigy" by the Hindustan Times, "a Bangalore woman changing the way children learn" by Femina Karnataka magazine and an "assured young soprano" by the Times of India. In 2012, she appeared on the list of 12 gen-next achievers in Verve Magazine. In 2021, she was listed as GQ Magazine's 25 most influential young Indians. Ambi Subramaniam
''Ambi Subramaniam'' (born 5 August 1991 Los Angeles, California, United States) is a violinist, composer, and educator. He started performing on stage when he was six years old and was described as the "new king of Indian classical violin" by the Times of India. He was also described as 'India's 24-year-old Itzhak Perlman' by the Ozy Magazine. Ambi is the Associate Dean of the Subramaniam Academy of Performing Arts (SaPa), an institute that trains musically inclined children to become professional performers. In 2014, Ambi started the SaPa in Schools program with his sister, Bindu Subramaniam.
