Student Organization of India (SOI) is the student division of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) party in India. The organization is a part of Panjab University, Chandigarh. History In 2015, SOI Alliance won all four seats in the Panjab University Campus Students Council. SOI made a debut in Delhi University student elections in 2015. SOI contested 18 seats in three colleges under DU and was able to win 10. SOI candidates won all six seats student union seats at Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce, Pitam Pura, with Mandeep Singh GGS as president, Agamjeet Singh Malhotra as vice-president, Deepakshi Garg as joint secretary, and Tavleen Kaur as general secretary. Pavneet Kaur and Amanpal Singh are central counselors. The All India Sikh Students Federation (AISSF), is a Sikh student organisation and political organisation in India. AISSF was formed in 1943. as the youth wing of the Akali Dal, which is a Sikh political party in the Indian Punjab. Origin Before the federation came into being, Sikh youths were organized into local ''Bhujangi Sabhas'' in schools and colleges across the Punjab region that promoted Sikh values, heritage and social service. The actual origin of the Sikh Student Federation can be traced back to "Khalsa clubs" established in 1888. The club came to be known as the ''Sikh Naujawan' Association'', whose first president was Harnam Singh. Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) () is a right-wing all India student organisation affiliated to the Hindu nationalist organization Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). History The ABVP, founded in 1948 with the initiative of the RSS activist Balraj Madhok, was formally registered on 9 July 1949. Its purpose when founded was to counter communist influence on university campuses. Yashwant Rao Kelkar, a lecturer in Bombay, became its main organiser in 1958. According to the ABVP website, he built the organisation into what it is now and is considered to be 'the real architect of the ABVP'. Various branches of the ABVP have been involved in Hindu-Muslim communal riots since 1961. Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College is a constituent college of the University of Delhi. It was established in 1951, and offers courses for science, commerce and arts in India. Panjab University Campus Students Council or PUCSC is Students' union consisting of the departmental representatives and other office bearers like President, Vice-President, Secretary and Joint-Secretary along with 123 Departmental Representatives (DRs) directly elected by the students from the various teaching departments on the Panjab University, Chandigarh campus. Further, these elected office-bearers and department representatives elect the remaining five members of the executive of the Council. The Dean Student Welfare is ex officio Chairman of the Council.
