Streatham-Croydon RFC
The Streatham-Croydon Rugby Football Club, is a rugby union club, founded in 1871, based at Frant Road, Thornton Heath, in the London Borough of Croydon, south London. Streatham-Croydon currently play in Surrey 4, Counties Surrey 3. The club's teams play in cardinal shirts, white shorts and cardinal and white hooped socks. History Streatham's heyday was arguably during the late 1960s, and 70s, when 9 senior teams and 4 colts teams were active, combined with an extensive fixture list against top clubs such as Richmond F.C., Richmond, Bath Rugby, Bath, Sale Sharks, Sale, Saracen F.C., Saracens, London Welsh, London Irish and others. Surrey 4
Counties 4 Surrey is a rugby union competition covering the English county of Surrey and parts of south-west London. It sits at the 10th tier of the English rugby union system. The teams play home and away matches from September through to April. Promoted teams move up to Surrey 3 and relegated teams move down to Counties 5 Surrey. At the end of the 1999–2000 season, Surrey 4 was cancelled with teams automatically going up to Surrey 3 or dropping out of the league. After a hiatus of four seasons the division was reinstated. Each year some of the clubs in this division also take part in the RFU Junior Vase – a level 9–11 national competition. Thornton Heath is a district of South London, England, within the London Borough of Croydon. It is around north of the town of Croydon, and south of Charing Cross. Prior to the creation of Greater London in 1965, Thornton Heath was in the County Borough of Croydon. Grace Moore (born 21 May 1996) is an Irish rugby player from London, England. She plays for Railway Union and the Ireland women's national rugby union team. Club career London-born Moore's first club was Streatham-Croydon R.F.C. and she concentrated on rugby with them in 2018, her last year in university. She joined Premier 15s side Richmond Women a year later. She was a winger when she started but finished the season in their back row. Maurice John Colclough (2 September 1953 – 27 January 2006) was an international rugby union player. He was selected for the 1980 British Lions tour to South Africa and the 1983 British Lions tour to New Zealand, playing in all four internationals each tour. Jeff Probyn
Jeff Probyn (born 27 April 1956 in Bethnal Green, London) is an English former Rugby Union player. The Old Albanian, Streatham and Wasps prop was selected in England's squad for the 1987 Rugby World Cup, but Probyn did not make his international debut until 1988, at the age of 31, against France. Probyn played in the 1991 Rugby World Cup where along with Brian Moore and Jason Leonard he was part of a destructive English front row as they reached the final, losing a tight match 12–6 to Australia at Twickenham. Peter Alan Horton (born 20 July 1945) is an English-born Australian former rugby union international. Born and raised in England, Horton was educated at Tulse Hill School and St Luke's College, Exeter. He was a hooker and played for London club Streatham-Croydon, representing Surrey at county level. Horton moved to Australia at the age of 24 and worked as the Sportsmaster at Gateshead High School in Newcastle, New South Wales, where he played rugby with the Waratahs club.
