Strangers In The Night (UFO Album)
''Strangers in the Night'' – originally issued with a sticker stating ''A Double Live Album'' – is a live album by British hard rock band UFO, first released in 1979 on the Chrysalis label. The original double LP was recorded at October 1978 shows in Chicago, Illinois, and Louisville, Kentucky. Chicago, recalled bassist Pete Way, "was the first city that we could play arenas in. We'd opened there for Kiss and their audience took to us. Every time we went to Chicago, it became an event." ''(UFO actually opened for Kiss in Nashville, on the Destroyer Tour)'' Some of the songs were recorded at a show on UFO's tour with Blue Öyster Cult. Guitarist Michael Schenker left the band during the tour and was replaced, for a second time, by Lone Star's Paul Chapman. UFO (band)
UFO were an English rock band formed in London in 1968. They became a transitional group between early hard rock and heavy metal and the new wave of British heavy metal. The band's final lineup consisted of vocalist Phil Mogg, lead guitarist Vinnie Moore, rhythm guitarist and keyboardist Neil Carter, bass guitarist Rob De Luca, and drummer Andy Parker. They had gone through several line-up changes, leaving Mogg as the only constant member, and had disbanded three times (first between April 1983 and October 1984, second from 1989 to 1991 and third in 2024). The band's classic line-up comprised Mogg, Parker, bassist Pete Way, keyboardist Paul Raymond and former Scorpions guitarist Michael Schenker. Saul Hudson (born July 23, 1965), known professionally as Slash, is an American musician, best known as the lead guitarist of the hard rock band Guns N' Roses, with whom he achieved worldwide success in the late 1980s and mid-1990s. Overdubbing (also known as layering) is a technique used in audio recording in which audio tracks that have been pre-recorded are then played back and monitored, while simultaneously recording new, doubled, or augmented tracks onto one or more available tracks of a digital audio workstation (DAW) or tape recorder. The overdub process can be repeated multiple times. This technique is often used with singers, as well as with instruments, or ensembles/orchestras. Overdubbing is typically done for the purpose of adding richness and complexity to the original recording. Paul Chapman (musician)
Paul William Chapman (9 June 1954 – 9 June 2020) was a Welsh rock guitarist best known for his work in bands such as UFO and Lone Star. He was well known by his nickname "Tonka", allegedly acquired because of his indestructible qualities. Early career Chapman's first notable band was the Welsh outfit Universe. Chapman toured Germany with his "first band" when he was 12 - in 1966 or 67. Chapman then joined Skid Row in December 1971 replacing Gary Moore as guitarist. His tenure was fairly short and only lasted until July 1972. His next band was Kimla Taz, with whom he was guitarist from December 1972 to May 1974. Chapman first joined UFO in 1974 as a second guitarist to augment their live sound having answered an advert in UK's music paper, ''Melody Maker''. He auditioned at the Unity Theatre in London. Michael Schenker
Michael Schenker (born 10 January 1955) is a German guitarist. He played in the rock band UFO and leads the Michael Schenker Group (MSG). He was an early member of the hard rock band Scorpions, a band co-founded by his elder brother Rudolf Schenker. In the mid-1970s, Schenker joined UFO, playing lead and rhythm guitar. He left the band in 1978 to briefly rejoin Scorpions for the recording of '' Lovedrive'', and then to form MSG. He has rejoined UFO three times, producing an album each time. The Destroyer Tour also known as The Spirit of '76 Tour was a concert tour by Kiss, in support of their fourth studio album ''Destroyer''. History At the time of the European leg of the tour the ''Destroyer'' album was already released and the band performed songs from that album, but they wore the ''Alive!'' costumes and had the ''Alive!'' stage show.
