Steven Alexander Wright (born December 6, 1955) is an American stand-up comedian, actor, writer, and film producer. He is known for his distinctive lethargic voice and slow, deadpan delivery of ironic, philosophical and sometimes nonsensical jokes, paraprosdokians, non sequiturs, anti-humor, and one-liners with contrived situations. Wright was ranked as the 15th Greatest Comedian by ''Rolling Stone'' in its 2017 list of the 50 Greatest Stand-up Comics. Stephen Thomas Wright (July 18, 1942 – June 1, 2025) was an American professional football player who was an offensive tackle for five teams in the National Football League (NFL). He also played for the Chicago Fire of the WFL in 1974. Wright played college football for the Alabama Crimson Tide. He never started a game for Alabama, but was selected in the fifth round of the 1964 NFL draft by the Green Bay Packers, as well as the New York Jets in the eighth round of the American Football League draft; although New York offered a blank check, the prospect of playing for Green Bay proved to factor in his decision. Wright started in 43 of 101 games in nine seasons in the NFL. Stephen Hough Wright (born April 8, 1959) is an American former professional football player who was an offensive tackle in the National Football League (NFL) for the Dallas Cowboys, Indianapolis Colts and Los Angeles Raiders. He was also a member of the Oakland Invaders of the United States Football League (USFL). He played college football for the Northern Iowa Panthers and then played eleven professional seasons with four teams from 1981 to 1992. Steven Richard Wright (born August 30, 1984) is an American former professional baseball pitcher. Wright played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Boston Red Sox, having made his MLB debut in 2013; he was an All-Star in 2016, and played for the team through 2019. He is known for his knuckleball pitch. Wright received two World Series rings as a member of the Red Sox, having been a member of the 2013 and 2018 championship teams, although he did not appear in the postseason in either year. Stephen Wright (1893 – 15 October 1959) was an English professional footballer who played as a half back in the Football League for Bolton Wanderers, Norwich City and Brighton & Hove Albion. He also played in Ireland for Bohemians, and managed Dundalk to the 1932–33 League of Ireland title. Life and career Wright was born in Leicester in 1893. Steven Gerald James Wright (born 24 April 1958) is an English serial killer, also known as the Suffolk Strangler. He is currently serving life imprisonment for the murder of five women who worked in Ipswich, Suffolk. The killings took place during the final months of 2006 and Wright was found guilty in February 2008 and given a whole life order. Steve Wright (1950 – January 16, 2017) was an American bass guitarist best known for his work with The Greg Kihn Band. A native of El Cerrito, California, Wright had played in a band called Traumatic Experience with El Cerrito natives John Cuniberti and Jimmy Thorsen. After changing their name to Hades Blues Works (later, Hades), they expanded into a quartet with Craig Ferreira in 1970 (he left in 1971). Stephen Carlton Wright (20 December 1947 – 27 December 2015) was an Australian singer, songwriter, and musician. Called Australia's first international pop star, he is best known for being the lead singer of the Easybeats, who are widely regarded as the greatest Australian pop band of the 1960s. Born in Leeds, Wright migrated with his family to Australia at the age of nine, living in Melbourne and later Sydney at the Villawood Migrant Hostel, where he met his future bandmates and formed the Easybeats.
