Stephen Percy Harris (born 12 March 1956) is an English musician and songwriter, best known as the bassist, keyboardist, backing vocalist, primary songwriter, founder, and leader of heavy metal band Iron Maiden. He is the band's only constant member since their inception in 1975; along with guitarist Dave Murray, Harris appears on every album. Harris has a recognisable and popular style of bass playing, particularly the "gallop" which can be found on many Iron Maiden recordings, such as the singles " Run to the Hills" and "The Trooper". In addition to his role as the band's bass player, writer and backing vocalist, he has undertaken many other roles for the group, such as producing and co-producing their albums, directing and editing their live videos and performing studio keyboards and synthesizers. Stephen John Harris (16 August 1948 – 11 January 2008) was an English jazz drummer and composer. Career Born in Mansfield in Nottinghamshire, he took up drums at the age of 14 and was soon playing in pop and soul bands. Harris was a replacement drummer for The Rolling Stones on several occasions in 1962 when Tony Chapman was unavailable due to work. In the late 1960s he was a member of the progressive rock band Woody Kern who recorded on Pye Records. From 1987 onwards, Harris was a member of the Nottingham-based band Pinski Zoo, who blended free jazz with funk. In 2001 he formed the group Zaum, named after the Russian Futurist concept Zaum. Their 2004 recording '' Above Our Heads the Sky Splits Open'' is highly regarded, achieving a 5-star rating in The Penguin Guide to Jazz. Shy were a British hard rock band from Birmingham, formed in 1982 under the name Trojan. Biography Formerly known as Trojan (not to be confused with NWOBHM band Tröjan who released the album ''Chasing the Storm''), Shy featured vocalist Tony Mills, Steve Harris (guitars; not to be confused with Iron Maiden bassist Steve Harris), Paddy McKenna (keyboards), Mark Badrick (bass) and drummer Alan Kelly. The Fremantle Football Club, nicknamed the Dockers or colloquially Freo, is a professional Australian rules football club competing in the Australian Football League (AFL), the sport's elite competition.
