Steve Bloomer's Watchin'
"Steve Bloomer's Watchin'" is a song which has been the official club anthem of Derby County Football Club since Boxing Day 1997, where the finished version of the song was played for the first time before the league game against Newcastle United. Derby won the game 1-0. The original version of the song was first played before the Manchester United home game in October of that same season. The idea for the song began in November 1996 when two Derby County supporters Mark Tewson and Martyn Miller heard an old Australian rules football song entitled "Up There Cazaly" when Gary Sadler recommended it which was composed by Mike Brady, in 1979, for the Seven Network's telecasts of the VFL. Within days of first hearing the Australian song, the two Derby fans had rewritten the lyrics of the song. A friend and musician Stephen Halsten-Reid re-vamped the musical composition. Pride Park Stadium is an all-seater football stadium in Derby, England, that is the home ground of English Football League club Derby County. Steve Bloomer
Stephen Bloomer (20 January 1874 – 16 April 1938) was an England international footballer and manager who played for Derby County – becoming their record goalscorer – and Middlesbrough. The anthem "Steve Bloomer's Watchin'" is played at every Derby home game and there is a bust of him at the Pride Park Stadium. He is also listed in the Football League 100 Legends and English Football Hall of Fame. During his career, Bloomer was a prolific goalscorer for both club and country. A quick thinking forward, he was able to shoot powerfully and accurately with either foot and his speciality was the ''daisy cutter'' – a low shot, hit with great power, speed and accuracy. Rob Kozluk
Robert Kozluk (born 5 August 1977) is an English former footballer who played primarily as a right-back. Born in Mansfield he came through the Derby County youth-team ranks before turning professional in 1997 before joining Sheffield United in March 1999. He spent eight years with the Blades, and made close to 250 appearances for the club, helping them to the Premier League at the end of the 2005–06 season. A three-year spell at Barnsley followed after which he returned to Sheffield United for a further season although by this time was a rarely used squad player. He joined Port Vale on a short-term deal in September 2011, before signing with Bradford City for the remainder of the season in January 2012. He joined Ilkeston in January 2013, and retired in October of that year. Robertus Petrus van der Laan (born 5 September 1968) is a Dutch football manager of Northern Premier League Division One South club Newcastle Town, and a former player. He began his playing career in his native the Netherlands with Eerste Divisie club Schiedamse Voetbal Vereniging in 1987, before moving on to Wageningen in 1990. In 1991, he moved to England to play for Port Vale, where after four seasons as one of the club's key players he was sold on to Derby County. James Michael Smith (17 October 1940 – 10 December 2019) was an English footballer and manager. As a player, he made 249 appearances in the Fourth Division of the Football League, representing Aldershot, Halifax Town, Lincoln City and Colchester United, and played for three-and-a-half years for Boston United of the Northern Premier League. He began a long managerial career with Boston United, and went on to take charge of top division clubs such as Birmingham City and Newcastle United.
