Steve Baker (baseball)
Steven Byrne Baker (born August 30, 1956) is a former Major League Baseball (MLB) pitcher who played for four seasons. He pitched for the Detroit Tigers from 1978 to 1979, the Oakland Athletics from 1982 to 1983, and the St. Louis Cardinals in 1983. He was originally drafted by the New York Mets in the 18th round of the 1974 MLB Draft, but did not sign with them, instead choosing to attend college at the University of Oregon. With things not working out in Oregon, Baker left school his freshman year and returned to El Cajon, California. Baker regrouped and was masterful in a season with the Grossmont Junior College Baseball team in El Cajon and he signed with the Detroit Tigers as an amateur free agent on May 10, 1976. After spending part of the 1978 season in the minor leagues, Baker made his major league debut on May 25, 1978. Stephen Baker (born 2 December 1961) is an English former professional association footballer who played as a defender. Football career Southampton Born in Wallsend, Baker was a member of the Wallsend Boys Club where he was spotted by scouts from First Division club, Southampton. After a trial, he joined the south coast club as an apprentice in July 1978, shortly after his 16th birthday, going on to sign a professional contract in December 1979. He made his debut for the reserves in March 1979, and for the next two seasons he shared the right-back position in the reserves with Manny Andruszewski, before making an "impressive" first team debut in the final game of the 1980–81 season at Ipswich Town on 13 May. Steven Richard Baker (born 8 September 1978) is an English footballer who played as a defender for Middlesbrough, Huddersfield Town, Darlington and Hartlepool United. Steve baker made his debut for Middlesbrough in the 1997-98 campaign, and went on to make five league appearances that season as they were promoted to the Premier League. The following season he made just two Premier League appearances. He suffered two cruciate ligament injuries in the space of three years. Baker also represented the Republic of Ireland under-21 team over a five-year period, earning over 35 caps. Baker joined Scarborough, initially on loan from Middlesbrough, in 2001, and went on to make more than 100 Conference appearances for them. He was released at the end of the 2005–06 season. Steve Baker (born May 6, 1957) is an American retired ice hockey goaltender who played 57 games in the National Hockey League with the New York Rangers between 1979 and 1983. The rest of his career, which lasted from 1977 to 1984, was spent in the minor leagues. Early life Baker was born in Boston and raised in Braintree, Massachusetts. He was a member of the Union College men's hockey team, resigning in protest when his coach Ned Harkness was forced to resign. Steve Baker (born September 5, 1952) is an American former professional motorcycle racer. He competed in AMA dirt track and road racing competitions from 1973 to 1976 and in the Grand Prix motorcycle racing world championships in 1977 and 1978. Baker is notable for being the first American to win a road racing world championship when he won the 1977 Formula 750 title. Baker was inducted into the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 1999. Motorcycle racing career Born in Bellingham, Washington, Baker began his career racing on the dirt track ovals of the Pacific Northwest. When Yamaha of Canada's rider, Yvon Duhamel, left to join the Kawasaki factory racing team in 1971, Baker was offered Duhamel's place on the team. Steve Baker (born 25 June 1963) is a former international motorcycle speedway rider from Australia. Speedway career Baker came to prominence after winning the 1983 Individual Speedway Junior European Championship, a competition that non-European riders were also allowed to enter. Baker reached the final of the Speedway World Pairs Championship in the 1987 Speedway World Pairs Championship. Also in 1987, he finished runner up in the Australian Championship. Steven Paul Baker (born 22 May 1980) is an Australian rules footballer who played for the St Kilda Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL) from 1999 to 2011. The Golden Bear of Zagreb () was an annual figure skating competition held in Zagreb, Croatia. Held since 1986, the event was organized by the Medveščak Figure Skating Club. Space Crusade
''Space Crusade'' is an adventure board game produced by Milton Bradley together with Games Workshop and was first made in 1990. It was produced in the UK and available in some other countries including Finland, Ireland, France, Spain, Denmark, Australia, Hellas and New Zealand. In Germany, Italy, Belgium and the Netherlands, it is known as ''Star Quest''. It is a sister game to '' HeroQuest'', which was also produced by Milton Bradley and Games Workshop. It uses many of the concepts of the Games Workshop's '' Space Hulk'' and '' Warhammer 40,000'' games, but at a much simpler level of game play. The game was designed by Steven Baker. Stevan "Mr. Escape" Baker (July 26, 1938 – September 17, 2017) was an American illusionist, comedian, and magician best known as an escape artist. During his career from 1967 through the early 1990s Baker appeared on '' Dick Clark's LIVE Wednesday'', '' Games People Play'', and was a star on an HBO special along with Tony Curtis and special guest star Dorothy Dietrich, called ''The World's Greatest Escapes'', and several times on '' That's Incredible!''. Steven John Baker (born 6 June 1971) is a British former politician who served as Minister of State for Northern Ireland from 2022 to 2024 and as Minister of State in the Cabinet Office from February to July 2024, having previously served as Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union from 2017 to 2018. A member of the Conservative Party, he was the Member of Parliament (MP) for Wycombe in Buckinghamshire from 2010 to 2024. Baker was chair of the European Research Group (ERG) from 2016 to 2017 and from 2019 to 2020. Born in St Austell, Baker attended Poltair School.
