"Step" is a song by South Korean girl group Kara from their third Korean-language studio album (fourth overall) of the same name. It was released as the lead single from the album on September 6, 2011, via DSP Media. The song was both written and produced by Han Jae-ho and Kim Seung-soo of Sweetune, who had worked on many of the group's previous records. In Japan, the song was made available to digital platforms on February 22, 2012, although no physical single was released for the song. Commercially, "Step" peaked at number two on both Gaon and the K-pop Hot 100, garnering over 2,780,000 downloads throughout 2011. In Japan, it also peaked at number two on the RIAJ digital chart and number 38 on the Japan Hot 100. Kara (South Korean Band)
Kara (; ; often stylized in all caps) is a South Korean girl group formed by DSP Media in 2007. The group's current lineup is Park Gyu-ri, Gyuri, Han Seung-yeon, Seungyeon, Nicole Jung, Nicole, Kang Ji-young, Jiyoung, and Heo Young-ji, Youngji. Kara made their debut in March 2007 with their first studio album, ''The First Bloooooming''. Originally a quartet composed of Gyuri, Seungyeon, Nicole, and Kim Sunghee, Kara showcased a strong female image and a mature contemporary R&B, R&B sound. However, their debut was a commercial failure. The following year, Sunghee left the group due to educational issues, and members Goo Hara and Kang Ji-young were added. Controversial TV was a television channel broadcast in the UK and Ireland, owned by independent production company Edge Media Television. History The channel launched in June 2008 after the founder, Keith Goodyer, acquired EMTV Ltd. is the sixth Japanese single by South Korean girl group Kara. It was released on March 21, 2012, and was the group's first double A-side single. Background Information about the single first emerged after someone on Twitter tweeted a picture of what appears to be of member JiYoung on the set of a music video. The picture was a screen capture from an iMac computer and showed "kara speed up" on top of the title bar. Details about a double A-side single titled "Speed Up / Girl's Power" being released on March 21 then began spreading around the internet. Universal Music Japan eventually confirmed the single's release on February 27, 2012. On the same day Japanese program "ZIP!" aired a preview for both the song's music videos.
