''Engineering the Soul'' is the third studio album by Australian punk rock band Something with Numbers. It was released through Below Par Records on 6 September 2008. In reference to the title of the album, lead vocalist of Something with Numbers Jake Grigg said, "Music is what powers the soul. We make the music. We are ''engineering the soul''". The first song off the album to be released to radio airplay was "Stay with Me Bright Eyes". It was released as a CD single in stores and as a digital download on 28 June 2008. It reached number 52 on the ARIA Chart and received airplay on Australian music television network, Channel V. The first pressing of the album came with a bonus DVD featuring the "Stay with Me Bright Eyes" video and 'Behind the Scenes', the 12 min ''Engineering the Soul'' EPK, plus all the videos for the singles from SWN's previous album. The 2008 Triple J Hottest 100 was announced on Australia Day, 26 January 2009. It was the sixteenth countdown of the most popular songs of the year, as chosen by the listeners of Australian radio station, Triple J. 2008 was also the first year of the countdown where Triple J made public the full list of songs that did not make the list proper. Coined as the "Hottest 200", the list was released online shortly after the main countdown. Voting commenced on Boxing Day, 26 December 2008, and closed on 18 January 2009. The second half of the countdown was broadcast live from Parramatta Park in New South Wales, with live crosses to the Big Day Out, held at Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne, Victoria. ''Video Hits'' was an Australian music video program that first aired on 15 February 1987. From 7 May 2011 it broadcast on Network Ten for two hours each Saturday and Sunday morning: 10am – 12pm on Saturdays and 8am – 10am on Sundays. At the time of its cancellation, ''Video Hits'' was the world's second longest running music show after the Eurovision Song Contest. The show was cancelled in July 2011 and its last episode aired on 6 August 2011. History From 1987 to 1999, the show highlighted songs featured in the Australian Music Report chart each week.
