Stay With Me (Kiki Dee Album)
''Stay with Me'' is the sixth studio album by English singer Kiki Dee, released by the Rocket Record Company in 1978. The album was reissued by EMI in 2008 on CD with two bonus tracks. The album's lead single was the title track, released in November 1978. Although it gained airplay on UK radio, it failed to enter the UK Singles Chart. The second single, "One Jump Ahead of the Storm", suffered a similar fate when released in January 1979. Background In 2008, Dee recalled of the album, "I remember making this album as being a wonderful experience and I got the chance to work with some amazing musicians. I was living a lot of the time in Los Angeles which was a really vibrant place to be in the late 70s. The title track was a great challenge for me to cover after the brilliant Lorraine Ellison original, but I loved every minute of it. "The Loser Gets to Win" is a song by English singer Kiki Dee, released on 14 October 1983 by EMI as a non-album single. The song was written by Dee, Harry Bogdanovs and Gary Osborne, and produced Elton John and Osborne. Background "The Loser Gets to Win" was Dee's first release of new material since her seventh studio album '' Perfect Timing'' in 1981. After the disappointing commercial success of the album, except for the single "Star", Dee decided to spend some time away from the music industry. In 1983, she returned by signing to EMI and began managing herself for the first time in her career. Davey Johnstone
David William Logan Johnstone (born 6 May 1951) is a Scottish rock guitarist and vocalist, best known for his long-time collaboration with Elton John as a member of the Elton John Band. Career Johnstone was born in Edinburgh. At the age of seven, at primary school, he volunteered to learn the violin. But by the time he was 10 he was playing it "sideways like a guitar". Tobias Boshell (born 20 July 1950) is an English songwriter and musician, best known as the founder of the folk rock band Trees. He was born in Wye, Kent, was educated at Bedales and the Royal College of Music. Boshell formed Trees in 1969 with Celia Humphris on vocals, Barry Clarke on lead guitar, Unwin Brown on drums/vocals, and David Costa on acoustic guitar & dulcimer. Cynthia Weil (October 18, 1940 – June 1, 2023) was an American songwriter who wrote many songs together with her husband Barry Mann. Weil and Mann were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1987, and in 2011, they jointly received the Johnny Mercer Award, the highest honor bestowed by that Hall of Fame. George David Weiss
George David Weiss (April 9, 1921 – August 23, 2010) was an American songwriter and arranger, who was a president of the Songwriters Guild of America. He is an inductee in the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Biography Weiss was born in a Jewish family and originally planned a career as a lawyer or accountant; however, out of a love for music, he was led to attend the Juilliard School of Music, developing his skills in writing and arranging.
