Stavne is a neighbourhood in the city of Trondheim in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the borough of Midtbyen, Trondheim, Midtbyen. It is located on the west shore of the river Nidelva, east of Byåsen. It lies across the river from Elgeseter. The area was previously served the Dovre Line. It is presently served by the Stavne–Leangen Line which runs between Stavne and Leangen. Stavne is the location of Trondheim (Stavne) Cemetery which is maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. Midtbyen, Trondheim
Midtbyen is a borough of the city of Trondheim in Trøndelag county, Norway. The borough comprises much of the city centre of downtown Trondheim plus part of the Bymarka rural areas to the west. Location Midtbyen proper is located north and west of the river Nidelva, south of the Trondheim channel and east of the neighborhood of Ila, thus being north of Øya and Elgeseter, west of Bakklandet and south of Brattøra. The borough of Midtbyen also comprises areas of Ila, Byåsen, Trolla and Stavne. The city's most historic buildings and central institutions are located here. The area is primarily commercial with office buildings and retail stores, though there is also some dense housing. Byåsen
Byåsen is a large neighborhood area in the city of Trondheim in Trøndelag county, Norway. It constitutes a large part of the city in the borough of Midtbyen. It encompasses a number of areas southwest of the main city centre. This includes all areas on the west side of the river Nidelva and north of Granåsen. This is mainly a residential area, with 32,136 residents as of January 1, 2003. Gråkallbanen tram line connects Byåsen to the city centre along with a number of bus routes (8, 5, and 19) as well as night time services by bus and tram in the weekends. The name Byåsen can be translated into "city hill", which describes its elevated position, overlooking the rest of Trondheim. The view of Trondheim can be seen from Utsikten (meaning "the view") around which the wealthier residents of Byåsen live. Commonwealth War Graves Commission
The Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) is an intergovernmental organisation of six independent member states whose principal function is to mark, record and maintain the graves and places of commemoration of Commonwealth of Nations military service members who died in the two World Wars. The commission is also responsible for commemorating Commonwealth civilians who died as a result of enemy action during the Second World War. The commission was founded by Sir Fabian Ware and constituted through Royal Charter in 1917 as the Imperial War Graves Commission. The change to the present name took place in 1960. Dovre Line
The Dovre Line ( no, Dovrebanen) is a Norwegian railway line with three slightly different lines which all lead to the historic city of Trondheim. Definition *Dovre Line is the current name of the 548 km main line of the Norwegian railway system (Jernbaneverket) between Oslo and Trondheim, used by Jernbaneverket (some times) and Vy (former NSB). *Dovre Line is also the 484 km main line between Eidsvoll and Trondheim, used by Jernbaneverket since 2008. *Dovre Line was the name of the 209 km main line between Dombås and Trondheim until 2008. Elgeseter
Elgeseter is a neighborhood in the city of Trondheim in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the western part of the borough of Lerkendal. It is south and east of the river Nidelva, south of the neighborhoods of Midtbyen and Øya, west of Singsaker and north of Nardo. The name comes from ''Helgeseter'', the name of Helgeseter Priory, an Augustinian abbey located at Elgeseter during the Middle Ages. Elgeseter is the centre of technology in Trondheim, housing both St. Olavs Hospital, the Norwegian University of Science and Technology and parts of Sør-Trøndelag University College. Nidelva
Nidelva is a river in Trondheim Municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. The name of the long river translates to "the River Nid" since the suffix ''elva'' or ''elven'' is the Norwegian word for "the river". Location The Nidelva starts at the Hyttfossen waterfall which rises from Bjørsjøen, a small lake located just below Selbusjøen, the largest lake in the southern part of Trøndelag County.
