"Static" is a 1988 song written by Full Force and recorded by James Brown. It was released as a Single (music), single from Brown's album ''I'm Real (album), I'm Real'' and was charted at number 5 in the ''Billboard (magazine), Billboard'' Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Reviewing the album, ''People (magazine), People'' singled "Static" out for praise, calling it "inflammatory". It contains samples of four songs, "I Know You Got Soul (Bobby Byrd song), I Know You Got Soul", "Hot Pants (I'm Coming, I'm Coming, I'm Coming)", "Alice, I Want You Just for Me", and "Hot Pants Road". James Brown
James Joseph Brown (May 3, 1933 – December 25, 2006) was an American singer, songwriter, dancer, musician, and record producer. The central progenitor of funk music and a major figure of 20th-century music, he is referred to by Honorific nicknames in popular music, various nicknames, among them "Mr. Dynamite", "the Hardest-Working Man in Show Business", "Minister of New Super Heavy Funk", "Godfather of Soul", "King of Soul", and "Soul Brother No. 1". Static (Virgil Ovid Hawkins) is a superhero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. The character was created by Milestone Comics founders Dwayne McDuffie, Denys Cowan, Michael Davis, Derek T. Dingle, and Christopher Priest. The character first appeared in a 3-page preview in ''Icon'' #1 (May 1993) with his first full appearance in ''Static'' #1 (June 1993), written by McDuffie and Robert L.
