State Road D.915 (Turkey)
D.915 is a north-to-south state road in northeastern Turkey. The road starts at Of, Turkey, Of, Trabzon on the coast of the Black Sea branching from State road D010 (Turkey), D.010 and ends in Aşkale, Aşkale, Erzurum joining State road D100 (Turkey), D.100 running in a high-elevation mountainous terrain. The route is composed of two parts crossed and overlap (road), overlapped by State road D050 (Turkey), D.050 on a length of north of Bayburt. The northern part, between Of and Bayburt is long, and the southern part, between Bayburt and Aşkale is . Of (, possibly from ''Ophious'') is a municipality and district of Trabzon Province, Turkey. Its area is 258 km2, and its population is 43,591 (2022). It is located in the eastern part of the province and is an important historical district of the province. The mayor is Salim Salih Sarıalioğlu ( AKP). Etymology There are several stories about the origins of Of's name. Of was called Ofis in 1910 by Pontic Greek speaking inhabitants. The Yungas Road, popularly known as the Death Road, is a long cycle route linking the city of La Paz, Bolivia, La Paz with the Yungas region of Bolivia. Hairpin Turn
A hairpin turn (also hairpin bend or hairpin corner) is a bend in a road with a very acute inner angle, making it necessary for an oncoming vehicle to turn about 180° to continue on the road. It is named for its resemblance to a bent metal hairpin. Such turns in ramps and trails may be called switchbacks in American English, by analogy with switchback railways. Mount Kop Tunnel () is a road tunnel under construction located on the province border of Bayburt and Erzurum as part of the route between Maden, Bayburt in the northwest and Aşkale, Erzurum in the southeast in Eastern Anatolia Region, Turkey. Situated on the Mount Kop of Pontic Mountains, it is a -long twin-tube tunnel. The cost of the construction is estimated to be 319 million.
