State University Of Malang
The State University of Malang (, abbreviated as UM), formerly the Institute of Teacher Education and Educational Sciences of Malang (, abbreviated as IKIP Malang), is one of the state universities in Indonesia. Located in Malang and Blitar, East Java, UM was established in October 18, 1954 as PTPG Malang, as School of Education of Airlangga University, making it one of the oldest teaching institutes in Indonesia. UM was separated from Airlangga University on 20 May 1964 to become IKIP Malang. In 1999, IKIP Malang formally changed its status from an institute to a state university. In 2010, UM ranked 6th as the best university in Indonesia by Webometrics, but sank to 16th in 2015. However, also in 2015, UM was accredited as an A-class university by the National Accreditation Board of Higher Education (BAN-PT) with a score of 372 points, just below UGM (378) and IPB (375). Muhadjir Effendy
Muhadjir Effendy (born 29 July 1956) is an Indonesian politician and rector. He was the minister of education and culture of the Republic of Indonesia in the Working Cabinet. He was appointed by President Joko Widodo on 27 July 2016 replacing Anies Baswedan. Effendy was also the Rector of Muhammadiyah University of Malang in Indonesia from 2000 to 2016. In addition Muhadjir is chairman of Muhammadiyah Central Board of Education and Culture. Personal life and career Muhadjir wrote his baccalaureate at IAIN Malang. Peni Suparto
Peni Suparto (born 14 August 1947) is an Indonesian politician and educator who served as the mayor of Malang, East Java, between 2003 and 2013. Early life and career Peni Suparto was born in Blitar on 14 August 1947, and was educated at a teachers' school. He began working as a teacher at an elementary school in Blitar in 1965. He then studied at the teachers' college (IKIP) in Malang (today State University of Malang) between 1966 and 1970 before returning to Blitar to teach at an economics vocational school until 1974. He then moved to IKIP Malang as an assistant lecturer, becoming a full lecturer in 1980. Awang Faroek Ishak
Awang Faroek Ishak (31 July 1948 – 22 December 2024) was an Indonesian politician who served as the eleventh governor of East Kalimantan from 2008 to 2018. Originally, his tenure ended in December 2018, but he resigned on 4 September 2018 in order to run in the 2019 Legislative Election, competing for a seat in the People's Representative Council from East Kalimantan and then got elected.
