State Highway 57 (SH 57) is a Texas state highway located in Tyler. Route description SH 57 begins at an intersection with SH 155 in southwestern Tyler. The route travels to the east before ending at FM 2493. The roadway continues under local maintenance as Grande Boulevard. SH 57 is four lanes with a center turn lane for its entire length. History SH 57 was originally designated on August 21, 1923, on a route along the Gulf Coast from Rockport to Gregory, replacing part of SH 12, which was relocated to the west. On March 19, 1928, the route was extended to east of Blessing. On April 25, 1929, a section from Corpus Christi to Chapman Ranch was added. On March 19, 1930, the section from Corpus Christi to Chapman Ranch became part of SH 96. On October 21, 1930, SH 57 was rerouted to end in Palacios. Texas State Highway Loop 49
Loop 49 (also called Toll 49) is a currently circular freeway that, along with I-20, will encircle the city of Tyler and serve other various communities in Northeast Texas upon its completion. Routing of the loop north of I-20 bypasses Lindale to the west and passes by the west and south sides of Tyler south of I-20. The highway interconnects suburban areas and areas of potential development around Tyler with I-20 and provides local areas easier access to the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. Currently, the route exists as an undivided two-lane highway stretching from US 69 near Lindale to SH 110 near Whitehouse. According to TxDOT, costs have exceeded $176 million, and the projected total cost for the completion of the route as a divided four-lane highway is still unknown. SH 1 State Highway 1 ran from El Paso through Dallas to Texarkana. It was the first highway designated in 1917. In 1926, the United States Highway System was designated, with US 80 colocated from El Paso to Dallas and US 67 from Dallas to Texarkana. On September 26, 1939, the dual designations were removed, leaving SH 1 only on a small stretch west of Dallas. This section was redesignated as Loop 260 on August 20, 1952. State Highway 35 (SH 35) is a state highway near the southeastern edge of Texas, United States, that is maintained by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). It runs primarily south–north, paralleling the Gulf of Mexico for much of its length, from a junction with Interstate 37 in Corpus Christi to Interstate 45 in southeastern Houston. Palacios ( ) is a city in Matagorda County, Texas, United States. The population was 4,395 at the 2020 census. History The native inhabitants of the region were the Karankawa people, whose initial contact with Europeans came in the 16th century when Spanish expeditions first traversed their territory, but they didn't speak Spanish, so it really has nothing to do with Palacios, Texas. In 1685, the area was explored by René-Robert Cavelier, Sieur de La Salle, the leader of an ill-fated French settlement attempt whose flagship '' La Belle'' was wrecked in the bay the following year.
