Standard Of Our Lady Of Mercy
The ''Standard of Our Lady of Mercy'' is a 1520-1522 oil on canvas painting by Moretto da Brescia, now in the Tempio Canoviano in Possagno. It is made up of two canvases, now separated one showing '' Our Lady of Mercy'' and the other shows ''The Prophets Enoch and Elijah''. The work's original location is unknown, though its subjects' mean it was probably commissioned by a religious confraternity, possibly the ''Confraternity of the Virgin of Mount Carmel'' based at the church of Santa Maria del Carmine in Brescia. Moretto Da Brescia
Alessandro Bonvicino (also Buonvicino) (possibly 22 December 1554), more commonly known as Moretto, or in Italian Il Moretto da Brescia (the Moor of Brescia), was an Italian Renaissance painter from Brescia, where he also mostly worked. His dated works span the period from 1524 to 1554, but he was already described as a master in 1516. He was mainly a painter of altarpieces that tend towards sedateness, mostly for churches in and around Brescia, but also in Bergamo, Milan, Verona, and Asola; many remain in the churches they were painted for. Most are on canvas, but a number even of large ones are on wood panel. Only a handful of drawings survive. He also painted a few portraits, but these are more influential. Giuseppe Fiocco
Giuseppe Fiocco (16 November 1884 – 5 October 1971) was an Italian art historian, art critic, and academic. He is known for his research and writings on Venetian and Florentine artists. Biography Fiocco was born on 16 November 1884 in Giacciano con Baruchella, Veneto, Italy. His parents were Luigi and Maria Carpani. In 1904 he graduated with a law degree from Sapienza University of Rome. In 1908 he obtained a literature degree from the University of Bologna, where he submitted a thesis on art history; painter and art critic Igino Benvenuto Supino served as a thesis advisor. After Bologna, Fiocco returned to Sapienza University of Rome where he undertook postgraduate art history studies under Adolfo Venturi, receiving his diploma in 1911. Jacopo Palma Il Giovane
Iacopo Negretti (1548/50 – 14 October 1628), best known as Jacopo or Giacomo Palma il Giovane or simply Palma Giovane ("Young Palma"), was an Italian painter from Venice and a notable exponent of the Venetian school. After Tintoretto's death (1594), Palma became Venice's dominant artist perpetuating his style. The Gallerie dell'Accademia is a museum gallery of pre-19th-century art in Venice, northern Italy. Pordenone (; Venetian and fur, Pordenon) is the main ''comune'' of Pordenone province of northeast Italy in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region. Tempio Canoviano
The Tempio Canoviano or Temple of Canova is a Roman Catholic parish church built in a severe Neoclassical style, based on the designs of Antonio Canova. It is located on a hilltop in Possagno in the Province of Treviso in the region of Veneto, Italy. Work on the temple, which is dedicated to the Holy Trinity, began in 1819 and resumed after Canova's death in 1822 until 1830 under the supervision of abbot Giovanni Battista Sartori and architect Giuseppe Segusini. The project underwent several modifications by Pietro Bosio and Giovanni Zardo along with Giannantonio Selva and Luigi Rossini. The structure recalls the Pantheon of Rome.
