St Joseph's Higher Secondary School, Cuddalore
St Joseph's Higher Secondary School is one of the schools of India located in Tamil Nadu. St Joseph's High School which was started in 1868. This school was elevated into a college in 1884 through the efforts of Father Tarbes and was affiliated to the University of Madras. The District - Gazetteer, Cuddalore District has recorded that the prime educational institution and the only college in the District in the 19th century was the St Joseph's College. It once again became a High School in 1909 due to the financial constraints. Since then there have been several attempts to revitalize the college. The college was reborn as the St Joseph's College of Arts and Science in 1991. Yvon Ambroise (born 30 August 1942) is the Bishop Emeritus of Tuticorin. He was appointed on 1 April 2005 and was consecrated by Pedro López Quintana on 18 May 2005. Bishops Antony Anandarayar and Peter Fernando acted as co-consecrators. He succeeded Bishop Peter Fernando to become the sixth bishop of Tuticorin. Duraisamy Simon Lourdusamy (5 February 1924 – 2 June 2014) was an Indian cardinal of the Catholic Church. He was the Prefect of the Congregation for the Oriental Churches in the Roman Curia and was elevated to the cardinalate in 1985. His episcopical motto was ''Aedificare domum Dei'' which means "To build the house of God". He was the fourth cardinal from India and the first curial cardinal of Asia outside of the Middle East. Savarinathan Michael Augustine (12 June 1933 – 4 November 2017) was an Indian prelate of the Catholic Church. He served as the sixth Archbishop of Pondicherry and Cuddalore from 1992 to 2004. He is an honorary member of Society of Foreign Missions of Paris. He served the church for 39 years as a bishop and for 56 years as a priest. He died on 4 November 2017.
