Spring Hill Farm And Stock Ranch House
Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve is a United States National Preserve located in the Flint Hills region of Kansas, north of Strong City, Kansas, Strong City. The preserve protects a nationally significant example of the once vast tallgrass prairie ecosystem. Of the of tallgrass prairie that once covered the North American continent, less than 5% remains, primarily in the Flint Hills. Since 2009, the preserve has been home to the Tallgrass Prairie bison herd. Description The NPS and The Nature Conservancy work toward preservation of the tallgrass prairie, while sharing the story of ranching legacy, American Indian history, and the diverse tallgrass prairie ecosystem in the heart of the scenic Flint Hills of Kansas. There are over of maintained hiking trails in the preserve allowing visitors access to the tallgrass prairie. During the summer, narrated bus tours of the prairie are offered. Spring Hill Farm (Ellicott City, Maryland)
The Spring Hill Farm is a historic slave plantation located in Ellicott City in Howard County, Maryland, United States. The site south of the Patapsco River produced Native American arrowheads in routine farming. The farm is part of a 1695 900 acre land patent named " Chews Resolution Manor". The property was a gift of Caleb Dorsey of Belmont to his daughter Rebecca and her husband Charles Ridgely creating the parcel "Rebecca's Lot". The main house was built about 1804. The property contains the Spring Hill quarters, a stone structure dating to 1790 built originally as a home for Edward Hill Dorsey. The structure has served as slave quarters, a carriage house with modern remodeling of the interior in the 1950s. Spring Hill Farm is a historic farm at 263 Meriden Road in Lebanon, New Hampshire. Founded in the late 18th century, the farm is noted for innovations in dairy farming practices introduced in the 1920s by Maurice Downs. It is also one of a small number of surviving farm properties in the town, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002. Description and history Spring Hill Farm is located in a rural setting in southeastern Lebanon, on bounded at its southern and western sides by Meriden Road and Laplante Road. The farm complex is located near the road junction, containing a main house, barn, and other smaller outbuildings. The main house is a -story brick structure built c. 1799, and a barn constructed c. 1929 but incorporating an early 19th-century structure, as well as lumber salvaged from other period barns.
