Rafael Gil (22 May 1913 – 10 July 1986) was a Spanish film director and screenwriter. His film ''La guerra de Dios'' (1953) won the Bronze Lion at the Venice Film Festival in 1953 and also won best film and best director at the San Sebastián International Film Festival. His film ''La noche del sábado'' (1950) was nominated for the Gold Lion at the 1950 Venice Film Festival and his film ''El beso de Judas'' (1954) was also nominated for the Gold Lion at the 1954 festival in Venice. His film ''Let's Make the Impossible!'' (1958) was nominated for the Golden Berlin Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival. He has won nine prizes of the National Syndicate of Spectacle of Spain. Gil was a prominent director of the Franco era. Academic background Rafael Machado began to study violin and musical theory in Havana, Cuba, in 1972; and received his Masters in Music from the Instituto Superior de Arte of Havana, in 1987. Ricardo López-Nuño Díez (2 March 1940 – 11 February 2015), better known as Ricardo Palacios, was a Spanish actor, film director and screenwriter. Born in Reinosa (Cantabria), Palacios graduated from the Official Film School in Madrid as an actor and director. He debuted in the 1961 TV series ''Poly''. He participated in about 150 films and television series, being mainly active in the Spaghetti Western genre, and he was also a recurring presence in films directed by Jesús Franco. Palacios made his directorial debut with ''Mi conejo es el mejor'', erotic film starring Lina Romay and Emilio Linder. Subsequently, in 1987 Palacios directed ''¡Biba la banda!'' starring Alfredo Landa, and in 1997 he directed the TV-series ''La banda de Pérez''.
