Spencer Abbott (baseball)
Spencer Arthur Abbott (August 27, 1877 in Chicago – December 18, 1951 in Washington, D.C.) was a long-time minor league baseball player and manager, as well as a minor league umpire and major league coach and scout. Playing career Abbott played the majority of his career from 1901 to 1914, although he did not play in 1902 or 1913. In 1932, at the age of 54, he appeared in one game for the Portland Beavers, the team he was managing at the time, hitting a single. A first baseman for the majority of his career, although he pitched in a few games as well, Abbott hit below .250 with regularity, nearing the Mendoza Line on occasion. He hit over .250 only four times in 14 seasons: 1904 (.287), 1907 (.289), 1912 (.288) and 1932 (1.000). Umpiring career He was an umpire for part of the 1915 season in the Western League. Spencer Abbott (ice Hockey)
Spencer Abbott (born April 30, 1988) is a Canadian professional ice hockey forward who is currently playing under contract to the Augsburger Panther in the Deustche Eishockey Liga (DEL). He has previously played in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Toronto Maple Leafs and Chicago Blackhawks. Playing career Abbott spent his collegiate career playing for the Maine Black Bears in the NCAA Men's Division I Hockey East conference. In his senior year, Abbott's outstanding play was rewarded with a unanimous selection to the 2011–12 Hockey East First-Team All-Stars, as well as being named the 2011–12 Athletic Republic Player of the Year. He led the league in scoring that season, collecting 21 goals and 62 points in 39 games. He finished his four-year stint with the Black Bears having registered 146 points in 151 games.
