Spain competed at the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London, United Kingdom, from 29 August to 9 September 2012. Spain sent 142 competitors to London, 23% of whom were women. The team was composed of 224 people, with 127 sportspeople and 15 guides, and 82 support staff. They competed in 15 different sports, and 74% of the competitors had connections to a high performance sport center in Spain. Medalists The Spanish Paralympic Committee had €600,000 to allocate to Spanish Paralympic medalists. For sportspeople eligible for only one medal, they were eligible for €15,000 for a gold, €7,500 for a silver and €4,500 for a bronze. Spanish Paralympic Committee
Spanish Paralympic Committee (, CPE) is a Spanish non-profit sport organisation founded in 1995, that oversees five national disability sport federations. The organisation has a Secretary General and a President. Since 2005, they have been supported by Plan ADO. In 2000, the CPE was involved in a cheating scandal at the 2000 Summer Paralympics. History The CPE was created in 1995 in response to the success of Spanish competitors at the 1992 Summer Paralympics. Organización Nacional de Ciegos Españoles (ONCE) assisted in setting up the CPE. In 1998, the Spanish government changed the laws, which impacted the status of the CPE to recognise it as equal to that of the Spanish Olympic Committee. At the same time, the organisation was received legal status, "declaración de utilidad pública", as being useful to the general public. Shooting para sport, Shooting at the 2012 Summer Paralympics consisted of twelve events. The competition was held in the Royal Artillery Barracks in Woolwich from 30 August to 6 September. Classification Paralympic shooters were classified according to the extent of their disability. The classification system allowed shooters to compete against others with a similar level of function.
