List Of Fictional Spacecraft
This is a list of fictional spacecraft, starships and exo-atmospheric vessels that have been identified by name in notable published works of fiction. The term "spacecraft" is mainly used to refer to spacecraft that are real or conceived using present technology. The terms " spaceship" and "starship" are generally applied only to fictional space vehicles, usually those capable of transporting people. Spaceships are often one of the key plot devices in science fiction. Numerous short stories and novels are built up around various ideas for spacecraft, and spacecraft have featured in many films and television series. Some hard science fiction books focus on the technical details of the craft. Some fictional spaceships have been referenced in the real world, notably Starship ''Enterprise'' from ''Star Trek'' which gave its name to Space Shuttle ''Enterprise'' and to the VSS ''Enterprise''. For other ships from ''Star Wars'', ''Star Trek'', ''Robotech'', and other major franchises, ...

Spaceship (cellular Automaton)
In a cellular automaton, a finite pattern is called a spaceship if it reappears after a certain number of generations in the same orientation but in a different position. The smallest such number of generations is called the period of the spaceship. Description The speed of a spaceship is often expressed in terms of ''c'', the metaphorical speed of light (one cell per generation) which in many cellular automata is the fastest that an effect can spread. For example, a glider in Conway's Game of Life is said to have a speed of c/4, as it takes four generations for a given state to be translated by one cell. Similarly, the ''lightweight spaceship'' is said to have a speed of c/2, as it takes four generations for a given state to be translated by two cells. More generally, if a spaceship in a 2D automaton with the Moore neighborhood is translated by (x, y) after n generations, then the speed v is defined as: This notation can be readily generalised to cellular automata with ...

Space Vehicle
A space vehicle is the combination of a spacecraft and its launch vehicle which carries it into space. The earliest space vehicles were expendable launch systems, using a single or multistage rocket to carry a relatively small spacecraft in proportion to the total vehicle size and mass. An early exception to this, the Space Shuttle, consisted of a reusable orbital vehicle carrying crew and payload, supported by an expendable external propellant tank and two reusable solid-fuel booster rockets. Reusable launch systems are currently being developed by private industry. Early spacecraft or space vehicles were sometimes known as " spaceships", a term which comes from science fiction to designate a hypothetical vehicle which travels beyond low Earth orbit and is 100% reusable, needing only to be refueled like an airplane. History In the 1865 Jules Verne novel ''From the Earth to the Moon'', successful attempts are made to launch three people in a projectile with the goal of ...

Einstein On The Beach
''Einstein on the Beach'' is an opera in four acts composed by Philip Glass with libretto in collaboration with Robert Wilson (director), Robert Wilson, who also designed and directed early productions. The opera eschews traditional narrative in favor of a Formalism (art), formalist approach based on structured spaces laid out by Wilson in a series of storyboards which are framed and connected by five "knee plays" or intermezzos. The music was written "in the spring, summer and fall of 1975.""mostly in Cape Breton Island, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia." Glass recounts the collaborative process: "I put [Wilson’s notebook of sketches] on the piano and composed each section like a portrait of the drawing before me. The score was begun in the spring of 1975 and completed by the following November, and those drawings were before me all the time." The opera's premiere occurred on July 25, 1976, at the Opéra d'Avignon, Théâtre Municipal in Avignon, France, as part of the Avignon Festiv ...

The Creature Wasn't Nice
''The Creature Wasn't Nice'' (also known as ''Naked Space'' and ''Spaceship'') is a 1983 American comedy film written and directed by Bruce Kimmel. It was released on VHS in 1983 under the title ''Spaceship'', to emphasize Nielsen's connection to ''Airplane!'', and on DVD in 1999 under the title ''Naked Space'', to play up the connection to Nielsen's ''Naked Gun'' films. The film is a low-budget comedy with simple sets and dialogue wrapped around several musical numbers. In one of the scenes, the red slimy one-eyed alien monster performs a lounge-style musical number called "I Want to Eat Your Face." Williams performs two musical numbers, one solo and one with Kimmel, who in 1976 had appeared with and directed her in '' The First Nudie Musical''. The film was completely re-edited ...
