Biosphere 2
Biosphere 2 is an American Earth system science research facility located in Oracle, Arizona. Its mission is to serve as a center for research, outreach, teaching, and lifelong learning about Earth, its living systems, and its place in the universe. It is a structure originally built to be an artificial, materially closed ecological system, or vivarium. It remains the largest closed ecological system ever created. Constructed between 1987 and 1991, Biosphere 2 was originally meant to demonstrate the viability of closed ecological systems to support and maintain human life in outer space as a substitute for Earth's biosphere. It was designed to explore the web of interactions within life systems in a structure with different areas based on various biological biomes. In addition to the several biomes and living quarters for people, there was an agricultural area and work space to study the interactions between humans, farming, technology and the rest of nature as a new kind of labo ... SpaceCamp
''SpaceCamp'' is a 1986 American science fiction adventure film inspired by the U.S. Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama. Directed by Harry Winer, story by Patrick Bailey and Larry B. Williams, screenplay by Clifford Green (as W. W. Wicket) and Casey T. Mitchell, the film stars Kate Capshaw, Kelly Preston, Larry B. Scott, Lea Thompson, Tate Donovan, and Leaf Phoenix. ''SpaceCamp'' received mixed reviews and is famous for being a "marketing nightmare," as it was released less than five months after the Space Shuttle ''Challenger'' accident of January 28, 1986 (although filming was completed before the disaster occurred). At the time of release, some thought the movie was trying to capitalize on the shuttle tragedy and should never have been released. However, those associated with ''SpaceCamp'' disagreed and added they had taken extra care to avoid any appearance of exploiting a national tragedy. The film performed poorly at the box office, grossing less than $10 million i ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

SpaceCamp (soundtrack)
The soundtrack to ''SpaceCamp'' is a release of the film's musical score by John Williams, first released on 45 and LP in 1986, and reissued on CD in 1992 and again in 2010. Although originally released on LP in the United States in 1986 by RCA Victor, it was withdrawn from the market because of the film’s unintentional similarities to the ''Challenger'' accident that had happened the same year. RCA Records’ German LP release and Japanese 45 release were not likewise affected. A limited Japanese printing of 1000 CDs was re-released in 1992, and the Intrada Special Collection limited a CD printing to 3000 copies in 2010. Intrada Records released a 2-disk remastered and expanded soundtrack in May 2022, containing both the complete score from the film and the original soundtrack album.
