Southern Steel (album)
''Southern Steel'' is the fourth studio album by the American guitarist Steve Morse, released in 1991. "Cut to the Chase" appeared on the soundtrack to '' Ski Patrol''. "Simple Simon" was a minor heavy metal radio hit. Morse promoted the album with a North American tour. Production Morse, who wrote all of the album's songs, was backed by drummer Van Romaine and bass player Dave LaRue. Morse first worked on the music for "Arena Rock" during his time with Kansas. Critical reception The ''Calgary Herald'' wrote: "Obviously an ardent Jeff Beck fan, this one rings with everything Beckish except Jan Hammer." The ''Chicago Tribune'' determined that "the album is fast and heavy hick-rock and though it goes through plenty of chord and tempo changes, Morse's fingers never get cold." Steve Morse
Steve J. Morse (born July 28, 1954) is an American guitarist, best known as the founder of the Dixie Dregs and as the lead guitarist of Deep Purple from 1994 to 2022. Morse has also enjoyed a successful solo career and was briefly a member of the group Kansas in the mid-1980s. Most recently, Morse became a member of the supergroup Flying Colors. Biography Early life Steve Morse was born in Hamilton, Ohio. His family soon moved to Tennessee and then to Ypsilanti, Michigan, where Morse spent his childhood. Jeff Watson (guitarist)
Jeffrey Victor Watson (born November 5, 1956 in Sacramento, California) is an American guitarist originally known as one of the founding members and lead guitarist of the band Night Ranger, in which he has played as co-guitarist with guitarist Brad Gillis. Watson developed his signature eight-fingered tapping technique during his time in the band. He appeared as a special guest on Douglas Docker's Docker's Guild project. Watson has also released solo albums. In 2007, he was fired by the three other members of Night Ranger through a letter from their attorney.
