A southerly buster is the colloquial name of an abrupt southerly wind change in the southern regions of New South Wales and Victoria (Australia), Victoria, Australia, which approaches from the southeast, mainly on a hot day, sea breeze, bringing in cool, usually severe weather and a dramatic temperature drop, thus ultimately replacing and relieving the prior hot conditions. Marking the boundary between hot and cool air masses, a southerly buster is sometimes represented by a roll cloud perpendicular to the coast, which appears from the south and coexists with the wind change, though sometimes there is little visual signal of the southerly's arrival. ''Southerly Magazine'' was an independent, non-profit American media organization focusing on justice, equality, and culture in the American South The Southern United States (sometimes Dixie, also referred to as the Southern States, the American South, the Southland, Dixieland, or simply the South) is census regions United States Census Bureau. It is between the Atlantic Ocean and the ... that ran from 2018 to 2023. The magazine was founded by Lyndsey Gilpin, who hoped that the magazine would fill in the gaps in a region vastly underserved in environmental reporting and storytelling. The organization was sponsored by the Institute for Journalism and Natural Resources (IJNR). It started as an email newsletter in 2016, and restructured as a news organization in 2018.
