Sophie-Tith Charvet (born 19 September 1996) is a French singer and winner of the television show ''Nouvelle Star'' in 2013. Biography Sophie-Tith is the third of a family of three daughters. She was born in Ambilly and grew up in a house in Ville-la-Grand, a town in the northern suburbs of Annemasse in Haute-Savoie. The second part of her name is Laotian for origin and ''reason, human feeling'', or alternatively Tith pronounced teat means "small". She attended Pottières kindergarten, then the Centre elementary school and Paul Langevin middle school. She then went to Jean Monnet high school in Vétraz-Monthoux, specialising in economics and science. Having repeated a year because of the heavy workload imposed on her by '' La Nouvelle Star,'' and the preparation of her first album, she obtained her baccalaureate in 2015. ''Nouvelle Star'' (; also known as '' À la Recherche de la Nouvelle Star'' for the first season) is a French television series based on the popular Pop Idol programme produced by FremantleMedia. It was broadcast by M6 in seasons 1–8 before D8 aired seasons 9-12. M6 broadcast the 13th and final season. It was hosted by Benjamin Castaldi for the first three seasons (2003–2005). He also hosted 13 episodes of seasons 4 (2006). Virginie Efira presented the remainder of season 4, as well as presenting seasons 5 and 6. Virginie Guilhaume hosted seasons 7 and 8. Tears for Fears are an English pop rock band formed in Bath, England, in 1981 by Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith. Mademoiselle K is a four-person French rock band currently signed with EMI, as of July 2007. The band takes its name from its leader, Katerine Gierak, and so the K is for Katerine. Career At age four she had decided to take music as her only path when she saw a guitarist in the Bois de Boulogne in Paris. Her mother then signed her up for early music classes when she was five years old. She said in an interview that she had wanted to learn the piano, but since she and her family could not afford one and also didn't have the room for a piano, she instead learned the recorder. At about the same time she had also started studying music including scales, rests and other music theory. In her school she had met a music teacher of the name Annick Chatreux. According to Mademoiselle K, Annick explained to her that there are no barriers between music based on genres, and that music was simply music.
