Sons Of The East
Sons of the East are an Australian indie folk trio formed in 2011 by Nic Johnston, Dan Wallage, and Jack Rollins. To date, they have released one studio album, three EPs, and a number of singles. The trio has performed at Latitude Festival, SXSW, Colours of Ostrava, and Boardmasters Festival, among other international festivals. History Sons of the East released their debut self-titled EP in August 2013, with the leading single "Come Away". In November 2015, they released another EP, ''Already Gone''. Their third release, the EP ''Burn Right Through'', came out in 2019 and featured the singles "Nothing Comes Easy", "Silver Lining", and "It Must Be Luck". Indie Folk
Indie folk is a music genre that arose in the 1990s among musicians from indie rock scenes influenced by folk music. Indie folk hybridizes the acoustic guitar melodies of traditional folk music with contemporary instrumentation. The genre has its earliest origins in 1990s folk artists who displayed alternative rock influences in their music, such as Ani DiFranco and Dan Bern, and acoustic artists such as Elliott Smith and Will Oldham. Latitude Festival
The Latitude Festival is an annual music festival that takes place in Henham Park, near Southwold, Suffolk, England. It was first held in July 2006 and has been held every year since, apart from 2020, when it was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, the festival went ahead as part of the government's live event pilot scheme, and was the UK's first full-capacity festival since 2019. The festival presents musicians, bands and artists across four stages - the Obelisk Arena, the BBC Sounds Stage, the Sunrise Arena and the Alcove. The festival also includes theatre, art, comedy, cabaret, poetry, politics, dance and literature. South By Southwest
South by Southwest, abbreviated as SXSW and colloquially referred to as South By, is an annual conglomeration of parallel film, interactive media, and music festivals and conferences organized jointly that take place in mid-March in Austin, Texas, United States. It began in 1987 and has continued to grow in both scope and size every year. In 2017, the conference lasted for 10 days with the interactive track lasting for five days, music for seven days, and film for nine days. There was no in-person event in 2020 and 2021 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic in Austin, Texas; both years, there was a smaller online event instead. Colours Of Ostrava
Colours of Ostrava, or simply Colours, is a multi-genre festival, the biggest international music festival in the Czech Republic and one of the biggest music events in Central Europe, held every summer since 2002 in Ostrava, the third biggest city in the country. Colours features 16 stages including 4 big open-air stages (the main one with a capacity of 15,000), 6 indoor stages, a theatre stage, a workshop stage, a kids' stage, a cinema and live discussions. It features performers from all major popular music genres as well as avant-garde music and world music. Until 2012 Colours took place in the well-known Silesian Ostrava Castle entertainment district and on the ''Černá louka'' Fairgrounds, as well as at other places in the city centre. Boardmasters Festival
Boardmasters Festival is an annual event held in Cornwall, United Kingdom, usually spanning five days on the second weekend of August. The event is a combination of live music and surfing/skateboarding competitions in and around the town of Newquay. The festival was founded in 1981 as a surfing competition, and in 2005 it was expanded to include music acts, taking place at Watergate Bay. The current capacity is 53,000. The majority of the music performances take place to the north of Newquay near Watergate Bay. The Men's Pro 5 Star WQS surf competition takes place on Fistral Beach where a skate ramp is built for the BMX and Skateboard competitions. Paul Cashmere is an Australian entrepreneur, broadcaster, music journalist and media executive. In 1995 he founded the digital music CD-ROM magazine, ''Undercover'', with Australian photographer and domestic partner, Ros O'Gorman (1960–2018). In September 2011 the pair founded the Noise Network including ''Noise11.com.'' As of September 2011 Cashmere was CEO and executive producer of the Noise Network. Sir George Ivan Morrison (born 31 August 1945), known professionally as Van Morrison, is a Northern Irish singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose recording career spans seven decades. He has won two Grammy Awards.
